Now Shipping: Teclast X98 Plus II

The Teclast X98 Plus II Dual OS is now in stock and shipping from Banggood.com. I’ll try to get my hands on one and have a look at the changes. But looking at the press imagines, it has had a slight redesign, thinner and more rounded with all the ports now located at the top of the X98 Plus II. And the rear housing has had some minor changes with some new speaker grills.

When I get hold of mine, I’ll make sure I check out if the speakers have improved, thermals and if the MircoSD card slot is now trouble free. The specs are the same as the X98 Plus, an LG 2048 x 1536 IZGO iPad Air screen, Atom X5 Z8300, 4GB of DDR3 ram and a 64GB eMMC. It runs Android 5.1 and Windows 10 Home. Connectivity we have wireless N, BT 4.0, micro HDMI out and MicroSD.

It’s listed here: http://www.banggood.com/Teclast-X98-Plus-II-Intel-Cherry-Trail-X5-9_7-Inch-IPS-Dual-Boot-Tablet-p-1059482.html and coupon 850b15 gets $30 dollars off the price bringing it down to $179.99.

  1. I can’t wait to see the review.

  2. the body is slightly thicker than the previous model, as claimed by one of the resellers in my country.

“The biggest difference between the X98 Plus II and the previous X98 Plus is the actual body size. The latest X98 Plus II has a metal uni body, which is durable and elegant. The body is slightly thicker than the previous model.Using the latest Teclast Intel Cherry Trail processor chips.”

    • the fact that they moved the ports to one side could indeed mean they are using a unibody frame. hopefully they also made the screen/glass gap smaller.

@Chris – when are you expecting to receive one?

    • DC charging and better speakers too apparently.

  3. Hope this will come with 4g and the issues from plus should be gone i hope

  4. Looks nice … but where’s the 3G / 4G… these seem copies of each other , there is no longer the novelty . that’s my opinion anyway .

    • Yes, nothing really new at least they haven’t started what has changed other than a light redesign. But nice to have a 4G modem and X7 Z8700 or Z8500 like the X98 Pro at least.

      • Chris, I really don’t know why the Z8300 for tablet use is so bad, when I change the Intel Power options (don’t remember the name of the setting) in the Windows power profile from the default ‘3’ to 4 or 5 my X98 Plus is really smooth and fast when web browsing and basic tasks. Granted the battery life suffers but you would see reduced life with an X98 Pro as well; which makes the push to a Z8700 kinda moot unless you’re gaming and need the extra graphics execution units.

FYI using these power settings I was also able connect a USB Nova-T Freeview tuner and watch a full world cup game at work on 75% brightness with a portable aerial! 🙂 it looked smoother than my 8 year old 42in Toshiba LCD tv!
