Xiaomi know for their mobile phones, is now breaking out into notebooks with the Xiaomi Notebook Air. They will be releasing two versions a 12.5″ and 13.3″ both with full backlit keyboards, full HD 1080p screens with edge to edge glass (Fully laminated), type-c and HDMI output. The 12.5″ version is the cheapest model, powered by a Core M3-6Y30 and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. It has a 128GB Sata3 SSD with a spare sata3 slot for expansion. It weighs only 1.07 kilos and the battery is good for 11.5 hours according to Xiaomi.
Banggood has this model listed for pre-order at $609 USD
Mi Notebook Air 12:
Mi Notebook Air 13.3″
The 13.3″ model, on the other hand, is more powerful as it has a Core i5 6300U, 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB PCIe SSD (4 lanes) with upto 1500 mb/s read rates. It also has a dedicated GPU in a form of a Nvidia 940MX with 1GB of DDR5 RAM. Like the 12.5″ model there is a free M.2 SATA3 slot for adding another SSD to increase your storage.
The 13.3″ model is 11% smaller than the Macbook Air 13.3″ and the lid sports no logo’s which is a nice touch. The weight of the 13.3″ Notebook Air is 1.28 kilos.
Both models ship with Windows 10 Home and have full metal bodies. I’ll do my best to review at least the Core M3 version. The Notebook Air 12 is due to be released in China on the 2nd of August, the 13.3″ version will follow later.
