DJI Spark Review Coming

Recently I got into drones opting to get the Xiaomi Mi Drone 4k a mid-sized to large drone over the small yet portable the DJI Spark. My main reasons were I wanted 4k video and was very disappointed to see that when the Spark was released it only does 1080p and not even 1440p video. It’s also got just a two axis gimbal and doesn’t come with a remote in the basic pack (Big mistake). Your mobile is remote controller using on-screen controls or just control it with basic gestures (But only for photos) You can buy a proper remote for 179 euros more so you have better control and range over just your mobiles wireless range. And then there is the high price of 599 euros on the official website. But retailers like GB here do have it for about 475 euros with a coupon code GBSpark. I don’t get why the official site is so much more ???

So the Mi Drone 4k has worked out to be a great drone, 23-24 minutes of flight time is great. But it’s rather large and heavy. So much so that to get some shots mountain biking down so trails here isn’t really possible. Sure I could ride to a trail or drive near one with the drone. But it has no follow me/tracking feature, so someone else would have to pilot it while I head down a trail. And no collision avoidance, which at least the Spark has, a feature taken from the Mavic.

This is where the Spark has its place. Much lighter, smaller so a lot more portable. So I could ride up to a trail with it. And with tracking & follow features.  I’m still not sure I will be able to ride down a travel, have it follow me and then be able to land it.  And that is all without crashing it into a tree and within 10 minutes not to risk low battery! But I’ll see as I have a review unit of this one on the way, so be interesting to see what this little drone can do.

Keep an eye out for an unboxing and review video of this one when it arrives in a week or two.
