AllDoCube Freer X9 – 2560 x 1600 8.9″ Android Tablet

My review of the Freer X9 is now online.

Edit 16th of October: I’ve just ordered one from Banggood, so will review this one in about two week when it arrives, it’s coming via the free (slow) post method but tax-free from me.

AllDoCube (Previously Cube) has a new smaller Android tablet that’s now out. The Freer X9. It has a fully laminated 2560 x 1600 resolution screen, 4GB of RAM MediaTek 8173 with PowerVR GX6250 GPU, 64GB, Wireless AC and runs Android 6.0. I’ve reviewed a tablet with this CPU before and while you might think that SoC wouldn’t have enough power to drive a 2560 x 1600 screen you’ll be surprised. While sure it won’t be as smooth as 1920 x 1200 or 1080p, the games I’ve tested with 4GB and the MTK8173 were playable.

The tablet has large bezels judging from the images and comes with a dated Android 6.0 ROM, so far these look to be the negatives of this unit and the 5800mAh battery. Of course at only 8.9″ it’s probably hard to fit in anything larger than that. The build is metal and it also has a 13MP and 5MP camera set up.

Type-C port is also there, dual speakers and MicroSD card slot. I think for the current $169 USD it’s selling for it’s not looking bad at all.

Here are the Freer X9 press images (below) What do you guys think? Worth a hands-on/review or one to skip? I also have my Teclast T10 review coming, currently, work in progress. That also has a 2560 x 1600 OGS screen, but with slimmer bezels and 10.1-inches.
