The Alfawise T1, a Gemini Lake N4100 mini PC has finally launched, this uses the successor to the Intel Apollo Lake N3450 SoC, the Celeron N4100 which has 2 MB more cache (4MB total), supports HDMI 2.0 and a 200Mhz faster max clock speed. I’ve tested the new Pentium Silver J5005 in Intel’s new NUC, so expect mostly improvements to GPU performance thanks to the move from DDR3 1600Mhz to DDR4 2400Mhz. Sadly we only get 4GB of DDR4 if only it had two DDR4 So-Dimm slots but apart from this, it’s looking good.
Update: Below is my review.
It has 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, inside you’ll find a M.2 SSD slot and 2.5″ HDD bay for an HDD or SSD. 4 x USB ports, (2 x USB 3.0 and 2 x USB 2.0) a MicroSD slot and Type-C port. It has a mic for Cortana support and runs Windows 10 Home. 2 x HDMI 2.0A ports. In the box there is also a VESA mount so you can mount it to a TV or monitor getting it out of sight.
The Alfawise T1 is now $199, Gearbest has knocked $20 off the price for launch. I’ve ordered one and waiting for it to ship, hopefully, it will leave China this week. So expect to see it in 2 weeks time on the channel and site.
