Oppo A7 with HyperBoost Tech & Large 4230mAh Battery Launched

Oppo A7

Oppo phones don’t always come with great specs-to-price ratio but they do usually feature a nice design along with a better than average build quality, and that is why they’re so successful in Asian countries.

The latest Oppo A7 announced today is yet again another device that follows the same spirit, it doesn’t pack impressive hardware, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 powering it up, but it does come with a premium design, very similar to the much more expensive OnePlus 6T; which isn’t a surprise as the latter is probably produced in the same factory complex.

The not too powerful but efficient CPU is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. We then have a large 6.2-inch HD+ (yes, only 720p) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop camera notch, which overall should look better than the wider typical notch.

The Oppo A7 sports a dual rear camera setup with 13MP + 2MP combo, meanwhile at the front we find an higher resolution 16MP selfie snapper with AI beautify modes. The phone is then fueled by a large 4230mAh battery and runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android Oreo.

Other than the low to mid-range hardware, the Oppo A7 also packs the company’s answer to Huawei’s GPU Turbo Technology, they call it HyperBoost. HyperBoost will boost (duh) performance in games of up to 31%, but this only works on a few games at the moment: Arena of Valor, PUBG and the latest FIFA.

Finally, pricing is probably the least nice thing about the phone that comes at 1599 Yuan, around $230/200€ in China only as of now.

What do you guys think? Would you ever pay over $200 for a Snapdragon 450 powered phone?
