Hey guys, I’m interested to know if anyone has tried the Remix OS for PC build on an X98 tablet?

    http://www.jide.com/en/remixos-for-pc

I’ve been contemplating getting an X98 Plus/Pro for a while now. I’ll probably be using Windows the most, but like the idea of dual-booting Android.  But  judging by the TechTablets forums, the Teclast Android build isn’t very good. Can someone test it out for compatibility (camera, apps, etc.) and gaming performance?

Some of the advantages of Remix OS that I can see would be:

    • A frequently updated OS
    • Run from USB Stick (or install to internal eMMC/SSD using workaround)
    • Desktop-like interface with full Android functionality
    • Native NTFS support for Micro SD card.

The NTFS support would mean both OSes can access the same files (movies, comic books, etc.) on the same Micro SD. I imagine having a 64Gb FAT32 Micro SD card would be laggy/fragmented and really slow down both OSes, nevermind the lack of 4GB+ files.

I’m really interested to hear from some of the users here. A video from Chris too would be great, but maybe that’s asking too much 🙂

If the experience is good, I’ll probably drop my money on a Windows 10 X98 soon and dual-boot it with Remix OS.

I got it to work but only on a screen plugged into the hdmi out jack. The tablet screen is pitch black.Wifi didn’t work, but a usb wifi dongle was recognized right away and worked fine. I’m not sure if the sound worked or not.

It seemed to run smoothly but with no touch screen working it was a no go for me. Support for Cherry Trail may improve with later versions….we hope!

Thanks for testing this out guys.

It’s only been out a month and currently only a developer version, so let’s hope compatibility continues to improve!

If anyone sees an update to Remix that fixes this, or finds a fix then please update the thread.

I’m keen to give remix a go.

The new Remix OS 2.0 beta from today now “works” on my X98 Plus without an external screen..

    It seems quite fast!

    But..
No touchscreen (I used a normal mouse)
    Wifi is not detected
Everything is very small due to the resolution

I ran it in guest mode, but it is also possible to install

I gave the new version a spin. I installed in resident mode. The screen is rotated 90 degrees, but it does work now.

As posted the dpi default is almost unusable. Had to get out the magnifing glass 🙂

It seemed much slower than when I had it running on the hdmi with the last version. It seems to be choking on the retina screen resolution. No gpu support for cherry trail seems to be the issue here.

No wifi, no sound, no screen rotation, no touch. The dlink usb wifi adapter that worked with the last version did not seem to work now? Def not ready for prime time on the x98 plus, but it’s progress!

Just wondering if anyone had a chance to test RemixOS 3.0 on one of the X98s (mostly interested in the Pro, though I suspect the peripheral hardware would be similar).
