Maybe my last Z8300 tablet. I didn’t plan to review this one but I got a good number of requests so gave in. The highlight of the Chuwi Hi10 Plus is its 3:2 ratio Surface 3 screen, it’s decent panel while not super sharp like the fully laminated Hibook Pro, it is very bright over 430 lux when the ambient light sensor is disabled. At 1902 x 1280 is much easier on the Intel HD graphics when it comes to gaming. I picked this one up from Gearbest here for $200. There is also an Atom X5 Z8350 version coming according to the listing.
The build is exactly like the Vi10 Plus I reviewed however, this time it’s not just Remix OS 2.0, but also has Windows 10 Home and 64GB’s of internal eMMC storage.
My initial findings and first impressions:
- Ram was set in the bios to only 1066Mhz, I was able to change this to 1600Mhz (Max supported speed) in the bios without any issues. Do this at your own risk. But it should boost gaming and GPU performance around 15% See this video as a guide.
- Type-C port powers external hard drives, but it seems to only be running at USB 2.0 speeds
- The screen looks good, very bright and 3:2 ratio is a nice change from the 16:9 and 16:10 tablets. Better for web browsing, but not so good for movies (larger borders)
- Build quality is good, just like the Vi10 Plus.
- The keyboard is very similar to the Vi10’s. It’s fine to type on but the touchpad has the annoying swipe down to minimize gestures enabled.
- Only one fixed angle for the tablet when docked to the keyboard.
- Again no type-c adapter is included in the box, you’ll need to buy one.
- The fabric of the keyboard is a real dust magnet. Any dust or dirt sticks to it in an instant.
- Toshiba 64GB eMMC drive.
- Remix OS 2.0 (Android 5.1.1 base) with 8.1 GB free space. Windows 10 has 31GB free.
