Yesterday my X5 Pro and type cover keyboard arrived from China, the X5 Pro is powered by the new Intel Kaby Lake Core M3-7Y30 with Intel HD 615 GPU, this tablet looks promising with a Surface Pro 4 like design, type-c port and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Below is the unboxing and first impressions video.
I asked it be sent untouched so it came with Windows 10 Chinese, it wasn’t possible to get it in English even after adding the language pack so I did a clean install, the good thing is Windows update found all drivers. So you can safely do a clean install without having to worry about missing drivers or touch screen issues. First impressions are listing below (More than what I added in the video after 2 hours using it)
First impressions:
- It’s a bit heavy at 1.5 kilos with the keyboard attached but feels well made & very solid.
- The port location isn’t the greatest, all the ports are at the top of the tablet. D/C in for example I would have liked at the bottom at least
- The type cover feels well made, good to type on. But not as good as the Surface type cover 4 or even the Cube i9’s type cover.
- The touchpad is average, it does the job, but not the best I’ve used.
- The type-c port doesn’t seem to accept charge even though it’s meant too. It’s not USB 3.1 spec. So only data. Not display out.
- The MicroUSB 2.0 port on the left doesn’t seem to work at all.
- The 12.2 inch IPS screen is bright and seems sharp for 1200p. It’s non-laminated unlike the Tbook 12
- 8GB LPDDR3 RAM runs at 1600Mhz
- The SSD is a FORSEE 240GB one with around 500 reads and 400mb/s writes. 2242 M.2 SATA3 Spec
- Intel dual-band wireless-AC 3165 is the Wifi module. I can get around 300mbps upload and download out of it. Same as my fibre line so very fast wifi no speed loss.
- Battery life from the 50,000 wHm battery so far looks average, around 5-6 hours max. (Still need to test this)
- Thermals, any thermal throttling I’ll need to check out. So far it has reached 75 degrees running a few benchmarks.
- I’m trying to find a stylus that works on it. But Windows 10 does say touch and pen support.
- Gaming test coming soon.
Currently, the only store that has it listed is Gearbest here.
