Xiaomi Mi Pad 2E – A Dual OS Updated Version?

Take this one with a grain of salt. Seems Xiaomi could be releasing a Dual OS upgraded version of the Mi Pad 2. Labeled as the Mi Pad 2E, it comes with a new 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. Storage options now start at 64GB with a 128GB version, considering it will be running MIUI 8 and Windows 10 home this makes sense and since there is no microSD support we really need all the storage we can get.

What doesn’t make much sense to me is they have also upgraded the CPU to an Atom X7 Z8700, not a refreshed Atom X7 Z8750 and the Z8500 already got hot enough would the thin alloy house handle extra heat from the Z8700?. The type-c port remains USB 2.0, no display out and still 2GB of DDR3 RAM which was the biggest criticism of the Mi Pad 2.

If this does turn out to be real, I find it odd they didn’t give us this instead:

The rest of the spec remains the same. Thin body, fully laminated screen with a premium build.

Alleged press images, yet oddly nothing on Xiaomi’s official channels, Mi.com or Weibo accounts.

Thanks to Mathias for the tip. Do you think this is real? The Mi Pad 2 is still one of the best small tablets around for the price, and I would love to see a worthy update of this model. Apollo Lake Mi Pad 3 anyone? Better yet, a Xiaomi Surface Pro 4 clone, Core M3-7Y30, 8GB and premium build.
