@Robert.  The drivers for the ME906V are different from the E, so I want to download the V drivers.  Thanks for your help, and for the dropbox.

Do you have your ME906E modem installed and working?

It appears the ME906x needs a firmware update to work with Win 10.  The ME906V is approved by AT&T and many other carriers, but only for  Win 7 and Win 8.  The ME906x was the first LTE modem in an M.2 form factor, and uses USB 2.0 as a com port.  The Teclast X1 Pro (which also used the ME906x) was a Win 8.1 dual boot device.  Huawei has moved on to the ME936 (added an LTE band, among other things), but the details on the ME936 do not say “Win 10”.

The older HP drivers for the ME906V install, but the end result is “Insert SIM”.  The July 2015 HP driver installs something, and by doing a manual driver update, I clear the Other Devices in DevMgr, but can’t connect with “3G modem”, and I don’t get the “Insert SIM” prompt.  The August 2015 firmware update “finds the port” in step 2, but “get device information” fails (“Error 12”) in step 2.  With the earlier HP drivers, the firmware update failed in step 3.  In both older and newer drivers, I get “driver is current” and “working properly”.
