Three immediate thoughts come to mind.
- It will be interesting to see how performance is impacted by the higher resolution.
- The fully laminated screen should make using a fine tipped stylus possible, if I’m not mistaken. We’re still probably talking about a capacitive stylus and not an active one with levels of sensitivity, etc. I’m guessing if that were the case, it would be listed as a touted feature.
- I wonder what the cost will be.
Thanks for sharing the news, Emily.

May 25, 2016 at 8:07 am #38535I’m assuming it will be the same keyboard as the Hibook? Also any idea if it will support a stylus, the Hibook looks like it should but don’t know if its the HiPen that would work with it?
May 26, 2016 at 7:42 am #38645Just received the tablet HiBook Pro (I just bought it simply because of the keyboard is included). First impression: it is slow, very slow, compared to my last iWork 1o ultimate. I even cannot scroll this page fluidly.
Although it has 2K screen, I cannot play 2K video on YouTube smoothly.
I think the touch screen is far from fluid. Scrolling is jaggy and it needs few taps to actually click something.
Possibly it is still updating on the background, so I will update my post later.

I think you’re right about background things slowing it down. Windows tends to do that, and runs pretty badly at first. I work on computers for a living and it’s often something like this, especially noticeable on slower machines. Give it some time. Also, look into fine tuning Windows for better performance… there’s definitely things you can disable and adjust to make a big difference.

Are you keeping the factory screen protector on, or going to use it bare-glass? Any air bubbles under your protector? Also, where did you purchase from, if you don’t mind my asking?

May 26, 2016 at 8:04 am #38651I already removed the first layer, although I haven’t remove the main screen protector. No bubble, just few small dust as usual Chinese tablet. Scrolling is quite slow, and touch is just imminent.
Windows probably installing some updates in the background. I will wait it finish first before saying this tablet is complete shit.
I bought it on Taobao.
Now I have another problem. Keyboard dock not powering Harddisk and USB-C not detecting anything using OTG (charging is fine). Now I am finding another new USB-C OTG cable, although I test it on my phone it is just working fine.
May 26, 2016 at 8:14 am #38652Same problem as me then. I can use the type c port for hdd’s but not the dock USB 2.0 ports. Yes they work fine with the iwork10 Ultimate, so the dock is not the issue.

No, and No. I am just previous happy owner of iWork 10 Ultimate, that had given to somebody else. I bought this tablet as replacement, mainly since the promotion of the keyboard is included for RMB 1.199 price.
Anyway, after few restarts the system becomes a bit faster. Seems I need to use it for few days to know how actually fast is the system. For the performance is relatively OK, although noticeably slower than my previous tablet.
But the touch screen still feel like shit. Although the screen is accurate, you need to put a bit force for the system to capture the touch or swipe. And I can actually notice the touch screen stop registering tap for few random seconds, since every tap has small circle animation.
Android is also quite slow, and I don’t like the DPI setup, everything seems so big. The touchscreen on android is worse. I literally cannot use the Android since it is very slow. Probably will be fixed after few restarts.
HiBook tablet doesn’t support pen input at all since it never advertised to do so and on the Windows itself said only Touch no Pen input. Keyboard is exactly the same with my iWork 10 Ultimate, just LED and color difference.
May 27, 2016 at 7:45 pm #38827Actually I recently found out that using Microsoft Edge is so much faster than using Google Chrome. Scrolling is as smooth as on my iPad, and zoom in and out is really smooth. I just don’t like the fact that Microsoft Edge doesn’t have Adblock plugin available yet, also it seems Edge is so much slower when accessing Google websites.
This still doesn’t fix the touch screen problem. When using on screen keyboard, I frequently miss one or two keys, which I am very sure that I already touch. I am finding any tweaks that can increase the sensitivity of the touchscreen. I also experience ghost touch, where random keys are touched when using the on screen keyboard. I don’t have this problem when using iWork 10, although I experience random key miss, but not as frequent as this tablet.
I also have a hard time touching small buttons, such as close tab on google chrome, something I don’t experience when using iWork 10, which is relatively easier. Touch screen the screen seems has 10%-20% chance the touch is not registered.
May 28, 2016 at 4:07 pm #38923How are you liking the screen?
<span style=”line-height: 1.5;”>I just received my HiBook but am debating to change it for a HiBook pro since I’m really disliking the huge screen gap that it has. Is it truly OGS and does it reflect less? Does it show as a darker color when turned off rather than the greyish tint that non laminated screens have? Can you discern any gap at all?</span>
Hope you’re able to solve the touchscreen issue.

I am not an expert, but I do believe it is almost the same with my iPhone or iPad, so I believe it is a true OGS laminated screen. I cannot notice any gap between the glass any the screen, like I can notice small gap from my previous iWork 10 Ultimate. I cannot discern any gap at all, similar with my Samsung Note 8.
Now you say it, I just realised the screen reflect much less than my previous iWork 10. I still reflects, but probably on par with my iPhone with tempered glass installed.
Cannot say for sure if it is darker or not, since I don’t have my iWork 10 anymore. If I’m not wrong, it is definitely much blacker than my old tablet, and Cube iwork8 side by side comparison. It is not as black as my iPhone or iPad screen, but comparable to my Samsung Note 8 screen.
Thank you. This touchscreen starting to get annoying day by day, since I also type frequently using the touchscreen.
Here are the text that I type on the touchscreen: thistext is typed on tscreen monitor wthut editing any mistaethat can occur in themiide of typing. as youcan see is is so bad that italways do mistakeat randm pace. i am typing at the rate same with can type with yipad.
As you can see, typing using the touch screen is not an option, as it is so horrible. My previous iWork 10 also has this problem, but not as worse as this.
May 28, 2016 at 7:55 pm #38930So the screen is nice but the touch screen is messing it up? Is it also still slow and worse than the iwork 10?

That can’t be normal. You must have got a lemon. I’d exchange it as defective and try another HiBook Pro. The malfunctioning screen may actually be related to the bad performance. Perhaps the HiBook Pro is a good tablet if you don’t get a faulty one? I couldn’t find any other reviews anywhere… but I can’t believe they’re all like that!
