I have the very same problem – my tablet arrived last week, and after the first WIn update process I wask to activate Windows and informed then that the windows key was “no longer valid”
I mailed that problem to gear best support and got a – have to say it that way – idiotic answer:
“First, connect to the network, and then set the local time, set to local time, there will be operation guidance, no password is required.”That of course has nothing to do with the issue – and the answer was given although I included a photo of the on screen message about the windows key. I dont know if the person answering was really that dumb or avoiding the issue. At the moment I am considering to make a paypal cause out of it even…
September 10, 2015 at 7:21 pm #11246Got my vi10 pro yesterday, same issue. :'(
September 10, 2015 at 7:56 pm #11248Here’s a thought since you all bought from gearbest. Download and install the BIOS SLIC key extractor from the downloads section on this site. Run the tool and the post the first 1/2 of your key from the text file it generates.
I believe they should be the same as 8.1 with Bing is generally free to OEM’s and should be using an OEM license embedded in the BIOS. If it was a unique license then there should be a sticker with that license on it included.
My thought is either they have production issues and keys are getting messed up or not entered when BIOS is flashed. OR the OEM has had their license revoked by MS
September 10, 2015 at 8:50 pm #11255But, windows with bing isn’t free? Why Gearbest don’t test its products?
Anyway I don’t understand the procedure You wrote..
Is there a way to have legally a Production Key without spend money (that I already spend)?
September 11, 2015 at 2:36 am #11262I received my Vi10 this past tuesday and I have the same key registration problem. I too bought it from Gearbest.
I got the Vi10 pro (64GB) version.
My key is X4W3R-YNK38-xxxxx-xxxxx-KHHTT
If I’m not mistaken, the Gearbest rep isn’t totally wrong. I did read somewhere that you had to set your time correctly for the region you’re in for Windows to activate properly, but I could be wrong! Anyway, I did set time correctly, but to no avail.
I contacted MS throught chat and they told me that my product key was indeed valid but it could be for another version of the OS. (currently 8.1 with Bing build 9600). They ended up telling me that I have to either have Gearbest send an activated tablet or contact Chuwi.
I’ll try and contact both gearbest and chuwi and see what happens.

Windows 8.1 w/Bing is free after a rebate to hardware manufacturers (OEM’s) an advanced version with office 365 personal will cost them $15. Point still is that because there is no COA and these tablets are using SLP activation via BIOS. I would not anticipate that each unit is being flashed with a custom key. Every other OEM uses a standard OEM key which identifies to the MS servers as belonging to that manufacturer and grants activation.
KAPAK
thanks for posting. I have the 64bit pro as well. Not from gearbest but ultimately from Chuwi. I’ll post my key later for comparison.
September 11, 2015 at 11:13 am #11280Received my Vi10 64g from Gearbest a couple of weeks ago. I specifically asked if they could set it up in English for me. It arrived with a dummy user account and all set up in English with Windows working fine.
I realize this doesn’t help you guys, but might save future purchasers. By asking gearbest to set it up in your language they have to get Windows working before they send it out.
