Also to add, the UEFI seems to be 32bit. Bootable usb built using 64bit ISO are not workable at all. I had tried using Rufus (my usual tool), and also ISO2Disc (as suggested by Chris) still not able to load up to installation screen. Also tried using script to create partitions etc etc was able to force flash 64bit image but the final few steps to make the partition bootable through BCDBoot command failed.
Syed, do take note that the speakers are really really terrible.
November 28, 2015 at 12:32 pm #16924this explains why they installed 32 bit windows… that is a big issue to be honest. i don’t even know if they can release an updated bios with 64 bit uefi but at this point i’m pretty sure they will not…
November 28, 2015 at 12:42 pm #16927I am downloading the x98 plus and pro flashing scripts from teclast forum to give it one last try.
November 28, 2015 at 2:46 pm #16933Give this app a try: http://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/primo-cache/index.html
It’s a caching system that can use the extra memory not usable by Windows, they call it “invisible memory”; 3 GB + 1Gb for caching seems like a sweet deal, can’t wait for my HI10 to arrive…
November 28, 2015 at 5:50 pm #16943ok. I had downloaded x98 Pro image flashing package in an attempt to wipte Hi10 32bit OS into a 64bit one.
The flash tool includes WinPE in 64bit and Win10 multi-edition install.wim file into a FAT32 format USB drive.
At BIOS screen, its able to detect my USB stick, but when I tried to proceed further, it looped back to BIOS.
I conclude that the UEFI is definitely a 32bit one.
will have to wait for the bios update from Chuwi. Hopefully will be release within the next two months.
In the meanwhile, I am considering to get the Onda v919 Air CH to play with. Anyone had tried that before?
November 28, 2015 at 7:09 pm #16945Hi Mikaboshi
Thanks for the response. I have a 5 year old laptop that I’m hoping to replace with the hi10 for portability/battery/cost reasons. So I’d be using it for productivity and word processing while travelling. Maybe a few games here and there, I heard it can play games that were released before 2010 or so.
Great quick write up there, the screen does look great. Can you use it outside or is the screen not visible at all?
How’s the battery life ?
And since you mentioned the keyboard that it comes with is terrible, are you going to wait for the official hi10 keyboard?
I’m planning to get a portable keyboard and just a universal tablet stand so I could use it as a laptop.
November 28, 2015 at 7:34 pm #16947Yet to try it outside but the screen seems decent to me. Audio for playing games is ok. For movies, speeches are not really audible. It did improve quite a fair bit after I install the RealTek I2S driver. Now more audible.
I tried installing the Lenovo ThinkPad 8 Intel SST Driver which causes conflict to the touchscreen driver and lost touchscreen functionality on one of the Hi10. Luckily I did do image backup and am doing a restore as I type.
As for keyboard, i wont be using the generic keyboard. I would not buy the keyboards made for Hi10 (1. keyboard cover without touchpad. / 2. another other model is too bulky). I will instead get this keyboard from Taobao which I had already own one for my Acer W4. There is a suction pad at the back which will hold the tablet plus it is cheaper than those 2 that I had mentioned.

Does the headset port have any hissing or static? And does it support regular phone headsets with mic functionality?
Thanks again for all the help and info.
November 29, 2015 at 3:04 pm #17006Nice thanks for the detailed response once again.
I was thinking of just getting a regular “tablet stand” and using a separate mouse/ GMYLE keyboard (looks like a mac keyboard) Do you recommend getting a keyboard that has a stand built-in like the one you showed me? Or does it not matter? I only ask because I’ve never tried anything like this.
And what’s that Acer case called? I tried googling it but I could not find any. Is it this one “acer宏碁W4-820-Z3742G06/G03aii平板電腦8寸藍牙鍵盤保護殼皮套”?
And sorry, I didn’t understand, why were you trying to install touchscreen drivers?
Thanks 😀
November 29, 2015 at 3:48 pm #17014Hi Nader,
I got the Acer W4 keyboard from this particular seller in Taobao and the build-quality is pretty good with good packaging. I had just ordered 2 more for the Hi10 from him. Based on the dimension given, its a good fit. Do note that the outter cover material is made of felt material hence a dust magnet like some of those keyboard cover that Chris had reviewed. I like this cover because of the “suction pad” which allows you to remove the tablet from the cover rather than those from other manufacturers that uses those pesky double-side tape type.
As for the touch panel, Hi10 is using Chipone touch screen panel. The error I had gotten is driver, the error is ok but the error I had gotten is the “HID I2C Driver” Tried using the drivers I had but system said its the latest driver already. Uninstalled the driver, reinstall again, same problem. So, might as well just wipe and restore the image. Much faster.
November 29, 2015 at 3:58 pm #17015Syed, the headset port has no hissing, static or inference noises at all. It can support regular phone headset with mic functionality. I had just tested it running skype. 🙂
November 29, 2015 at 4:45 pm #17020so how are the usb ports? both 2.0? or one is 3.0 as it should?
November 29, 2015 at 5:33 pm #17025Hi Mikaboshi I found it cheaper here:
http://www.buyitmao.com/products/43957963239
I’m not sure if the website is legit but I just quickly googled it. Just to be clear, it’s called Qianye 10.1 right? It’s not an acer product? And what if you had a tablet stand and a separate keyboard? Would that not be as good as this keyboard case?
Edit: Opps, that price was just for shipping, not sure about the product price
November 29, 2015 at 5:45 pm #17026I have ordered one. The website said it’s a 64bit device so I hope it ships with 64bit Win 10.
November 29, 2015 at 6:00 pm #17030Nader,
That’s the one. They only list the shipping cost as you had mentioned. Anyhow, its not an Acer product. I have the original Acer keyboard kickstand type cover which is rather heavy. I was previously using the Acer flipcover together with my Asus ME400CL keyboard (which is very slim and sleek).
Had never used your suggested combination as I prefer not to carry that many stuff around. With this case, its like carrying an organiser and I also use Adroit pen to take notes on the tablet too.
Maybe you will like that attached cover/pouch. see attachment
