I’m using without a protector at the moment and do not dare to use the hipen. I had a tempered glass protector that shattered near the magnets on the keyboard dock.
waiting for replacement protector to arrive…
i do not recommend using the hipen without a protector. The screen does scratch quite easily.

Which screen protector have you ordered now ?
I intend to buy the new metal keyboard as soon as it will be available, so I don’t want a screenprotector that can’t be used with the keyboard.
June 26, 2016 at 2:05 am #41984I ordered this one from aliexpress. Probably will take another 2 weeks to arrive
http://s.aliexpress.com/ba6vaQF3July 14, 2016 at 7:53 am #43455I am still using my Chuwi without any screen protector. I know it is risky but I have a good case and am really careful with it. My Hipen will be here soon. I know some of you are scared to use the Hipen. I am doubtful a plastic tipped pen would ever scratch glass even if it is not gorilla glass. But I may be wrong. Please if anyone out there is not using any protector and uses the Hipen, let me know about scratches. Thanks.
July 14, 2016 at 10:53 pm #43517My experience “in the olden days” with the PDA’s like the iPAQs and PalmPilots, is that not the tip of the stylus itself caused the scratches. The scratches were caused by dust, that gets between the screen and the stylus tip.
By being careful by often cleaning your screen and always cleaning the tip of the stylus before using (I remember the disgusting habit of licking the tip like people long ago did with their pencils), you could reduce the risk of scratching.
The problem however is, that once in a while you either forget to clean the tip or the screen, and there will be a tiny hard spec of dust (silicone from sand or clay) and you will get scratches on your unprotected screen.
July 15, 2016 at 7:50 am #43541I have a tempered glass protector AND a MilitaryShield matte screen protector on top of it (one for the Surface Pro 3.) I can’t stand the feel of a stylus on glass and I spend a significant amount of time outdoors so the matte protector keeps me sane.
Between the fix for touchscreen sensitivity found elsewhere on this site and the additional tips on registry edits found here (http://thetechjournal.com/how-to/tutorial-how-to-improve-microsoft-surface-touch-responsiveness.xhtml)…
It works great. Both the touchscreen and the pen are very responsive.
