i just discover that chuwi when new model or hardware they use the serial, not the model
the last digit is important on serial, model dosent mean nothing
exemple mine is Q64G45160100448, i uderstand that 10 is the first model and 448 mean 448th from factory
another DOA dead Hi12 was Q64G45160102290 i uderstand that 10 is the first model and 2290 mean 2290th from factory
http://forum.chuwi.com/thread-911-1-1.htmlnow tinydeal :
Q64G45160302214 so 30 should mean new model (i guess) and 2214th from factoryApril 6, 2016 at 12:35 am #32218Ok, I’ll cut to the chase, and it’s gonna sound real lame: I need a volunteer who is willing to open up their Hi12. (or someone that can tell me if the red circled chip in the attachment is a Goodix GT9110 or GT9110P) Because if it is the GT9110P, then it might mean that all current Hi12 users in fact have a stylus ready tablet.(GT9110P supports an active stylus) Current pictures have only provided me enough to measure the chip based on the picture. (i get the idea it’s a 10x10mm chip, which can only be the GT9110 or GT9110P) It’s only speculation of course and I can’t see why it would be a GT9110P. But if it is in fact the GT9110P, then I guess our tablet is compatible with dual boot and also stylus ready. This could also explain why the dual boot tablet from the TinyDeal video has the exact same model number(CWI520).
what is you serial number ?

My serial number is Q64G45160102899
Tomorrow I’ll be getting my torx t4 screwdriver, so I can open the tablet myself. Let’s just hope I don’t break it. And let’s hope I find out I have a GT9110P chip 😛
April 7, 2016 at 8:43 am #32374Please make an how-to on opening the tablet, I think many people would benefit from it.

I have the screwdriver and it fits perfectly, but I’m going to wait for the dual boot software and wait if more people have issues with the noise at 0% backlight. I am not voiding my warranty for this :/ (not yet)

April 13, 2016 at 10:35 pm #33398Interesting info, so it looks like (We hope) all models could support a stylus. So now which stylus model do we need to get and the tech? Some sort of active stylus of course.

Now with the serial number explanation being just the month it was produced, I think there is a possibility that all Hi12’s are the same, just with different software. (maybe some different firmware, I hope not)
I do have an interesting fact and that is that the Goodix GT9110P has 256 sensitivity levels, yet Chuwi has advertised with it having with 512 sensitvity levels. (could also just be some marketing stuff of course, wouldn’t be the first time…) Since the touchscreen driver IC is not on the motherboard itself, it’s easy to replace it for another one. So it could also mean Chuwi is using a completely different chip.
By the way, has anyone tried using an active stylus on the Hi12? Maybe it simply works xD
EDIT: I just compared both the datasheet for the GT9110 and GT9110P. I think it’s simply exactly the same chip with different firmware. The P version has some more stylus related registers that can be set. I am 99.9% sure that the driver for the GT9110 is compatible with the GT9110P.(but not the other way around of course) So this could mean that Chuwi was not able to release a proper driver, so they didn’t release the tablet with stylus capability. I think it’s just a matter of software. 🙂 So let’s wait for the dual boot bios and dual boot software I guess…
April 13, 2016 at 11:26 pm #33410None of my stylus pens seem to work on it. (Active ones) Dell pen and Teclast.

They did say that its 512 pressure levels IIRC. Dell and teclast pens I believe are 256 levels hence it should be a different pen/tech
April 14, 2016 at 11:24 am #33480Not it’s marketing hype, as the promo video review shows 256 levels.

Then they should adjust their page: http://chuwi.com/product/items/Hi12-Dual-System.html
Then I am quite sure the newer models have the GT9110P touchscreen controller.(and I think the older ones also have it to)April 15, 2016 at 2:27 pm #33658Sorry, maybe I didn’t clearly express what i said.
I mean that you can return your tablet to Chuwi factory if you want to upgrade your old hi12 (only win10) to dualboot (win10 +android) ,but the mainboard and touch panel are original except for adding android os. And upgraded hi12 don’t still support stylus. Only new version hi12 can support stylus.
So old version hi12 and new version hi12 are difference between mainboard and touch panel.April 16, 2016 at 7:56 am #33728@Chris Do you have this one stylus?:
I think that can work on DUAL OS CHUWI HI12, not windows OS Hi12. It looks exactly same as Chuwis promo pictures.
