i7 is on it's way, what are some must have apps? (plus fresh windows install?)

Here items under 50USD are supposed to be tax free but they don’t care. You can open a dispute but that makes the product go back to customs office, it takes as long as 6 months and the tax could increase instead of decrease.

I cancelled my gearbest order today as they said my order won’t ship until January. I have re-ordered from aliexpress where the seller has said he will post tomorrow so that it will arrive before Christmas (he also said he will mark as a $50 dollar tablet so will hopefully have a low customs fee).

Same Finland, under 22eur are tax free. Computers don’t have customs tax but they collect VAT 24% which is basically applied on everything here from food to cars. I don’t think finnish customs believe anything chinese write on declaration, if they think its valuable they ask to proof products value with receipt or other plausible document. On the otherhand they have automated things, DHL for example collects tax for customs (and they add that nice mandatory 20eur service fee)

This is a good question. The Mix plus preorder stops on Dec 12 and the shipment is supposed to be Dec. 14. They have not sent my 11-11 i7 book order and I might have cancelled already, but because I ordered a keyboard, and they shipped it, I did not want to send the keyboard back to China. I might consider the new Mix plus, but would hate to have more Back order stuff. Glad you got refunded fast. That’s good info! Such a mess

About the new Mix Plus some places say its 12.2″ and others that it is 10.6″. I didn’t like its color as well.

It’s definitely 10,6″, it’s the successor to the i7 book with the new processor, and maybe one to two tweeks. If you compare the housing (eg: the loudpseakers) you can clearly see it’s the same housing as the i7 book with a different colorscheme. I must admit, I like the silver one better than the blue. But since I’m gonna vinylwrap mine anyhow to a matte-grey I don’t really care that much. For now I find the Cube Mix Plus to expensive and am glad to have gotten such a good deal on my i7 book.

Don’t be fooled, you can’t honestly expect the shipment to be on 14th dec? I find it quite peculiar that the shops already launch their presales as soon as a new device gets announced. Then you also have the christmas holidays and new years eve (not really relevant to the chinese, but we tend to buy presents for christmas), I wouldn’t expect a Cube Mix Plus to be shipped before next year.

My Cube i7 Book, ordered on the 7th of November, has been delivered today (2nd December), no customs to pay (I’m in Italy). To be fair, the dispatch took longer than usual, they said that due to huge number of sale they had some problems.

To get back to the topic, I ran several anti viruses, and didn’t find anything suspicious, so I’m not doing a fresh install, I just linked my Microsoft Account and done. I recommend Ninite if you need to install several programs at once. I’m trying to find a good ePub reader, meanwhile I installed essential entertainment software like Netflix and Spotify (both speakers and audio out via headphones are pretty terrible, it’s definitely better with a Bluetooth speaker), and Krita to try the pen. I still have quite a few Windows Updates to install, I’m pretty sure I’m not even on Anniversary, for example.

So I ordered 13.11, GB dispatched tablet itself 22.11 and today it arrived yay. So three weeks, thats sounds like normal china delivery. Chronopost tossed packet to another courier company in Finland who tossed it to another courier company(since I apparently live too far in “country side”) but it managed to find its way.

It looks like GearBest has done clean install on this tablet since there were no normal Windows 10 setup stuff, it just went straight to desktop, no recovery partition and everything is in fully english. And it really is clean install, there is no extra just the drivers. Tried to look around fishy processes or startup programs but couldn’t spot any. Windows 10 version is 1511 so definitely not the latest. I’m going to take backup with Veeam Endpoint Backup and do fresh installation anyways.

I have Cube i7 Stylus and Cube i7 Book is almost exactly same, plastic “antenna bar” is slightly wider, speker grills are different and port placement is bit different since there is different ports. Charger is some fishy looking US charger with euro adapter, but the CE certified which I bought for stylus works just same since its same tip, polarity and volts. Charger shipped for i7 book has specs for 2A and tablet itself says 2.5A.

Thanks Michael.Luigi,& mrobi, I have still not heard about my 11-11 order yet, but on the product sales page there is an “in stock” notation that wasn’t there before. So thanks all for the updates. I will def let you know when I have any further word on my order.

Hi all, my i7 has arrived! I cancelled my original gearbest order after they said it would ship in January, and reordered from aliexpress. Had to pay a 19 pounds customs fee (just noticed the keyboard only has a dollar sign..) but apart from that it all went smoothly.

Anyway it is looking lovely and I am very excited to play around with it. I am currently updating windows and trying to get used to the keyboard. I keep accidentally minimising windows with the touch pad and accidentally zooming in on chrome. Anyone know if there is a way to disable these touchpad gestures? Otherwise the keyboard is really nice!
