Good day Oliver Did you manage to find a way to install Windows7 on your new EZ 3 pro? It seems mine will NOT load Windows7 in *legacy* configuration…… I did find the legacy option in bios, and did enable it, and also set the ““Win 7” setting, >> Chipset->Southbridge->OS Selection” , but still it seems to only want to boot to UEFI mode. Thanks mjd

    Hello lost_bro,
I didn’t spend much time, trying to install Windows 7 – one reason is, that in my experience, these Atom-like devices tend to perform better under Windows 10 or 8 than under 7. The other one being, that I didn’t have much time for experiments. 😉

So far, it seems that the BIOS of the Ezbook 3 Pro only boots in EFI mode and the OS-Settings (Linux, Win7, DOS) don’t have any kind of effect. I prepared my thumdrive with the EFI files, but the Wind0ws bootloader got stuck, complaining about missing files, which were definitely present under the mentioned path. It’s possible, that it doesn’t work, because it was a multi-boot stick with GRUB loading various ISO images or the Windows bootloader. This kind of chainloading might interfere with the EFI boot, so some time later, I will create a clean, dedicated Windows 7 boot thumb drive and see, how it goes. But most likely, the install.wim will need some patching for USB drivers and maybe other things. And I won’t be suprised, if it turns out to be impossible.

    Good day Oliver

Yes, I recently installed Win7 on a Xiaomi Air 13 Intel i7 which came from HK with a Chinese Window 10 version.  You are correct, I had to slipstream the Win7 SP1 x64 with the usb3 and Samsung NVME drivers in order to make it possible.  But, the Xiaomi Air 13 has the *Skylake* cpu which is Win7 compatible.

I purchase two of these EZ book 3 Pro as gifts for my daughters, so I need to get the OS  in order before X-mas this year.  I’m not a fan of Windows 10 and much prefer Win7 for various reasons I will not go into here, but I have not given up.  Do let us know what happens when you have a chance to try the dedicated Win7 install.  Likewise I will post back again when I have more information.

    Thanks

    take care, peace
