I can confirm that this item:
http://www.gearbest.com/usb-gadgets/pp_256041.html
Does NOT work OTG + charging at the same time. Tried every combination (power 1st, USB 2nd; USB 1st, power 2nd)
Getting kind of desperate, i can’t find one living soul that has a working OTG + Charging cable for Mi pad 2.
I’m beginning to think the problem is with the tablet itself.

I just took delivery of the same item too in gold.

I thought it didn’t work…..
BUT I figured it out!
- Shut down Mi Pad 2.
- Make sure the hub has power + USB all plugged in first.
- Plug into tablet. Charging indicator light should turn on.
- Turn on Mi Pad and you should get charge (it’s trickle charge) + OTG.
Note: USB is hot-swappable, however, if you disconnect power while the tablet is in use… you need to restart the tablet to get both OTG & Charge working again.
Also the charge is trickle charge. Charging anywhere between 500 – 1000 mW. Normally the included Xiomi charger will charge at a rate of 6000 mW. Your battery level will go down slowly under use, and charge up very slowly when not in use.
Still not a perfect solution…

January 30, 2017 at 9:52 pm #61245Amoedo, you method doesn’t work for me with a W10 Mi Pad 2. Turning the Mi Pad 2 on with that hub plugged in and powered does charge the computer, but then the OTG USBs don’t work. It doesn’t matter if the flash drive or keyboard is plugged into the hub before the Mi Pad is turned on or after. No data until you remove the charger cable from the hub. Then the OTG starts working (it takes a few seconds for the charge LED to go off).
If you add the power back to the hub, the USB devices now get the external power. (so a 2.5″ USB hard drive will work without draining the Mi Pad battery). But, no charging of the Mi Pad itself.
Interestingly, if you don’t use the Type C port for power it works as a 3rd USB OTG.
I would really need a device to keep the Mi Pad 2 charging while using USB devices. Apple Macbooks seem to do it. Has anyone tried this hub with a Macbook? Anyone found a different hub that charges the Mi Pad 2 with OTG USB functioning?
January 31, 2017 at 3:20 pm #61281This one works for me:
Yuandao N70|ColorFly 808 3G|Chuwi HI12 + (128GB microSD;GPS VK-172 MCDODO case:Stylus Pro Fine)
June 15, 2017 at 9:30 pm #56571Took Receipt of both suggested units

If Anyone has any luck please let us know

Neither Work:
They will charge if you have the power plugged in before attaching the hub to the tablet,
OR they will USB if there is no Power attached when you attach to the tablet,
So still no luck
Cheers Neil
