Thanks for the tip, @wurster. I’m extremely hesitant to try to flash anything because it powers off suddenly and frequently, even if I’m in the BIOS settings. If it powered off during a BIOS or EC flash, it would probably be irreversibly bricked.
@john-macie, PM incoming.December 14, 2016 at 12:37 am #58590you are right, be careful. Did you try shake it a bit or something like that to check if it turns off then? maybe it’s bad soldering.
December 14, 2016 at 10:43 pm #58692I downloaded the zip for cube i7 book from cube-tablet.com. It’s a 7GB zip containing win10, bios and ec files and a chinese documentation about flashing win10, bios and ec. I translated that document. There was a note, that reflashing the ec (ec means embedded controller) might help with power or charging problems. So it might help with your problems described here. Flash/upate BIOS might help as well. I can post the translated doc, if you like. But be warned: I don’t speak chinese and used google translator and tried to figure out, what it should mean. But I guess, it’s pretty accurate, at least it makes sense from a techical point of view, also there are a lot of english screenshots.
@wurster I tried a lot of things to get the zip. I found the cube-tablet firmware dwnld page and tried to plug in google and bing translate to get to the zip. I used the username and pass and that gave me a Chinese captcha that I couldn’t do. I finally got the standalone windows app and that let me into a folder with phone firmware and apps, but couldn’t find the tablet zip. Any brief suggestion to help me get at that zip? Thanks johnm

December 15, 2016 at 1:23 pm #58732You need the baidu desktop app. In the download-section of cube-tablet.com are credentials for baidu. I also remember that chinese captcha, but I got around it somehow, I’m not sure, but after clicking the download-symbol on top of the page, a small in-page-popup appeared, there you should klick a text-link, not the obvious “big” link, but I’m really not sure anymore. I just tried to reproduce this, but the credentials for baidu don’t work anymore, can’t login.
Anyway, I can provide BIOS, EC and documentation, but not the win10 files, it’s way too big to reupload with my internet connection.
December 15, 2016 at 3:49 pm #58737That would be great, Thanks, I don’t need the windows 10, but I’d appreciate the bios etc. My email is [email protected]
