So why not change the drive to exFat?
February 6, 2016 at 6:03 pm #25167Probably of no help now but to anyone else who does a Windows restore. Mine also froze at 55%. I thought it was shagged and was about to switch off, but I had to go out so left it running and when I came back about 2 hours later it was at 99% and then completed. So my advice is if it seems to hang, wait and then wait some more before thinking it has failed.

ExFat is not recognized by the tablet!
So, how do you create a USB stick containing all the files required for a new installation of Win10?

Assuming that you already have a usb hub with external power an usb mouse/keyboard, you have to
- Download the system files by Teclast and EXTRACT them
- Insert a usb stick of 16Gb in the computer, Format it to FAT32 & Label it “WINPE”
- Copy the extracted files to usb stick
- Shutdown the tablet
- Connect the Tablet to charger and also connect it to the externally powered usb HUB, along with the Mouse and Keyboard
- Power on the tablet and as soon it displays the Teclast logo keep hitting the “Delete” button on the keyboard, this way you will enter the BIOS
- Go to the BOOT options and set the tablet to boot from the connected usb stick
- Save and exit
- The tablet should now boot into the usb by itself and start the flashing process.
- it will tell you when it is done (open the PDF file included in the extracted system files for images of that)
- Power off via the power button.
Voila!
February 7, 2016 at 10:34 pm #25353Fine, NTFS then.

Not NTFS, the instructions from TEclast are very clear on this…
….you shouldn’t have a problem when using the extracted System Files by Teclast anyhow.
February 8, 2016 at 12:14 pm #25380Hello everyone and thank you all!
Problem solved with great difficulty!
new installation of Android
new installation of Win10
lot of patience…February 9, 2016 at 7:47 am #25498Glad you got it working.
I have been very tempted to kill and reclaim the myriad extra partitions this thing has. Would that be a bad idea, then?
February 10, 2016 at 9:40 pm #25647So I got my x98 the other day and after booting it up in windows and checking out the minimum operation, I decided to do some updates including the November win 10 one. Several updates went fine (security, etc.) but the November update encountered a problem telling me that there was not enough space, (needed 14.6 gb) and would not update. I read thru this forum and did not find this mentioned specifically and since I had this problem before on another dual boot system (pipo) and after trying to free up space, I managed to brick the windows os. Rather than take that chance on the x98, I decided to do a remove everything reset.
After a couple of hours (probably more) the system started the installing windows routine and worked its way up to 95% where it has been stuck for the last 15 hours. On a regular basis, shortly after flashing the 95% notice, it will reboot (teclast logo with spinning white dots), show a quick 46% update, jump to the 95% update and then go into the boot routine again.
I have been able to go into the boot menu (power + vol down) and into android but cannot see anything to address this problem. The post on this thread about downloading the teclast system files and creating a usb to boot from looks interesting but i am not sure which files to download and if they would be the right ones for an a5c8.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
