February 12, 2017 at 6:12 pm #62098Hello to all,
I am trying to flash C2E3 TECLAST x98 Plus 2 (Android only : 2GB RAM +32 GB user) using Teclast package . Goal is mainly to try to improve a very poor wi-fi sensitivity and install OTA application which has never worked.
In Teclast X98 Plus Android firmware update tutorial, it is mentionned to Copy CUSTOM_CONFIG.INI (in Firmware folder) but I can’t find it after unzipping the package as I have only a config.img with size= 4281 ko.
Does anyone has encountered this problem and was able to solve it ?
Thanks in advance for your kind support & best regards,
Jean

I’m not sure if your BIOS comes with the support for the dual OS mode. It would be a good thing to make a backup of your BIOS image since it might contain some hardware specific modifications (image sensor, wifi, bluetooth, etc.). Also, I’m not sure if you need to first flash a dual-os supported BIOS into your device. Can you tell us what version of BIOS do you have? You can enter BIOS by holding Power and Volume+ keys when starting your device or by connecting a USB keyboard and pressing Del key during boot.
I would be interested in your single-os BIOS image, since I have a C2D6 version of the X98 Plus II device and I have problems with micro SD card. I’m starting to wonder if problems come for the dual-os BIOS that is found in our devices, so I was thinking about flashing single OS BIOS version.
As for the WiFi and OTA updates, you’ll quite certainly see no improvements there. WiFi has hardware/driver related issues and OTA updates would mean that Teclast is actually providing support for their devices and that is a joke.
To get newest Android image, you can simply download it from their web page.
EDIT: After rereading your post, I see that I’ve made a wrong assumption about you trying to install dual OS system. Sorry :/
February 13, 2017 at 4:17 pm #62154Thanks for your message.
I am quite a beginner with Android.
BIOS version is 2.17.1249 and I did download image from Teclast site to get Android using PhoneFlashTool_5.3.4.0 but as said before I haven’t found CUSTOM_CONFIG.INI (in Firmware folder) after unzipping the Teclast package named X98 Plus II (C2E3)-Android5.1-V1.04.rar (I tried two different programs with the same result) which I considered as a bad start !
Before that, I have tried to make update on several apps on Google Play as proposed and now my tablet is stuck on Teclast logo when I power it on.
I was able to find the recovery mode to try a factory reset and it is said power button to select the option but that doesn ‘t work for me! I found also pushing again Volume up/down produces following message : Dnx Fastboot message request is received…Please release the button combo.
After that, pushing Power button made tablet to power off and that’s it…Nothing special happens when power on again.
If you are still interested in my BIOS version, it would a pleasure but you will have to explain how to do it.
I spent already many hours for nothing until now. Several months ago, after having buyed this tablet, I contacted Teclast for very poor wi-fi senstivity and OTA not functionning and got no answer despites several reminders.
I know for sure I will not buy anymore Teclast products !
Best regards,

February 16, 2017 at 3:35 pm #62308wow @c0t2d0, thank you very much!
I believe the ROM is to install with TWRP (not 100% sure tho), but I still have to root and install it before I can make some experiments, hope to find some spare time this weekend.
But at least ROM is available thanks to c0t2d0, big thanks to you!
@soulfunkdjx it is android, but with many windows element (multi-windows and many other features), you can search their own website to have an idea, it’s similar to RemixOS.Ah, about that, it seems there is a RemixOS available, with bugfixes also

February 17, 2017 at 2:34 am #62331Hi try it with TWRP and it don’t work neither. That said the file is corrupt.
After unziping, I saw some chinese character in the folder inside the zip so I unzip change the name and zip all.
I may try to take the system.bin and put it inside a flashboot folder that is working.
Anybody try it?

February 17, 2017 at 5:01 am #62336I try the first Phoenix file in fastboot. This don’t work. there is a problem with the system.img file :
attempt to skip outside of partition [291504128 2438987776] [563073024 2954686464]I don’t know what that mean. I flash the factory one and everything is working again.
Did you try the new ‘Remix’?
February 18, 2017 at 1:29 am #62390Same error with Remix 2.0 as with Phoenix.
attempt to skip outside of partition [291504128 2438987776] [563073024 2954686464]Didn’t work.
Maybe I’m doing something wrong.
February 18, 2017 at 2:50 am #62391guys, It’s my first time using those tablets so I don’t know if this is the software you are using, but probably the Intel Manufacturing Flash Tool is required to flash the rom, the one provided inside the stock rom of your model. Head over at teclast website and download the rom for your model http://www.teclast.com/en/firmware/ or try searching for the single files on the web, but if you want to be sure, the ones inside your very own rom should be 100% safe.
inside, there is a pdf which says:
Teclast X98 Plus Android firmware update tutorial
1. Install below applications in update tool folder, please strictly follow below order to install the applications:
a. iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0.exe
b. IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.5.0.exe
c. PhoneFlashTool_5.3.2.0_win32.exe
2. Copy CUSTOM_CONFIG.INI (in Firmware folder) to
C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Intel\Manufacturing Flash Tool
3. Power on tablet and enable USB debugging mode on tablet
4. Open Phone Flash Tool.exe then browse Android image folder
5. Connect tablet to PC then click “Start to flash” when PC recognized the tablet
6. Tablet will be restarted when upgrade process reaches 100%
7. Tablet will still have some Chinese apps after upgrade, please perform factory reset after tablet enter into Android, then Android will be 100% Korean version
Done!stock rom provided has most of the same files as the ones listed on phoenix and remix. Probably, if you have different storage size (like 32g instead of 64g), you should replacegpt.bin, but I’m not sure about that.
February 18, 2017 at 7:39 pm #62422Boa tarde senhores.
