    Hi,

I’d give it a try. Do I have to root it first vor just flash TWRP recovery?

    Hi all

It’s a port of the Asus zenphone 2 and it’s working in my K9C6 model (not sure to work in the other model). If Teclast released the source, everything would be easier. But it’s not the case….

Anyway, the way of booting it is using the command fastboot and if you are using windows, I’m assuming that you have installed the intel drivers of the flashing tools, if not in this web you can find the files and intructions to install them. I use Linux and in this case is easier because you don’t have to install any driver:

    Procedure:

1- Open a administrator terminal and go t the flash utility directory

2- Copy the contents of the zip file in this direcory

3- Boot into DNX fastboot mode. You have to turn on the tablet pushing Vol + and – and the power button at the same time

4- Connect the usb cable to PC.

    5- In the terminal run:
    fastboot boot loader.efi

6- Wait for the android fastboot screen and run:
    fastboot boot TWRP-2.8.7.0_teclast_x98pro-b1.img

    And voilà…..

As I said before, once you reboot the tablet everything will come back to normal (with old and unuseful recovery).
Note: Use with your OWN Responsibility

Yes, of course you need a dual boot version installed.

This seems to boot ok, and I appear to have made a backup ok, but can’t flash anything, have tried xposed zip (we need xposed working) but getting “error executing updater binary in zip” I have read online its because the device model reported by TWRP doesn’t match the device model report by the actual device?

Hope we can get this working…

Update – I have also managed to restore the backup I made, and that seems to be ok, so for some reason its just flashing zips that don’t appear to work..

    I’ll have a look … but the xposed framework doesn’t work with X86_64 android systems…. 🙁

Yeah, xposed should work on them, I have it running on my Chuwi Vi8, that is running X86_64…

it just needed a little tweaking to get running properly, but at the minute, I can’t even get the zip to flash, its not even trying to, just errors straight away, I have re-downloaded it a few times to check its not broken..

    fingers crossed

Update – Just want to confirm that no zip flashing works, I have just created a zip using App2Zip (use all the time) and the zip gives the same error when I try to flash it.

I also managed to flash the recovery to my actual recovery partition and it seems to be working ok, I am able to boot to it via abd reboot recovery now as well 🙂 just need to be able to flash zips from it, and I should be able to get xposed running, then I will post the steps.

Confirmed working on K9C6 , except that the “shortcut” for DNX fastboot mode is Power & Vol-
Also, no need for an admin terminal.

I got the Zenphone 2, too. Does the untethered twrp recovery work, too?

I’ve been testing with App2zip, and it’s not compatible with x86/x86_64 architecture, I mean, it works but creates a flashable zip for devices with ARM chips. I for that reason the recovery doesn’t recognaise the updater binary.

Ok, that still doesn’t explain why we can’t install the xposed zip for amd64 here , its the “xposed-v78-sdk22-arm64.zip” zip that should be compatible with our devices,  that what I used installing xposed on my Vi8 (x64 W10/Android dualboot tablet)..so I don’t quite think the issue it is explicitly because that zip isn’t compatible, as I still haven’t found a single zip that will flash from my playing..

Sorry, as I said to you before, arm64 is not comptible with x86/x86_64. They are two architectures differents. Is not possible. The only one that would be able to work is xposed-v78-sdk22-x86.zip and only work in android 32 bits version and our teclasts have the 64 bits android version. And not, there isn’t xposed for this version of android

TWRP is working fine here on a K9C6, backup and restore, all good. Also flashing a zip was successful (rooted Android with SuperSu_2.46.zip). Thanks to Dani, you did a real great job!
