Hello everyone, just joined this forum

I’m Arco from the Netherlands and I’ve bought the Teclast X98 Air 3G 2GB/32GB
At first, because I wanted windows 8.1 in Dutch I’ve made a clean install with windows 8.1 pro 32bits.
From there I used the drivers from techtablets and almost everything worked except my frontcam, he’s got a warning in the device manager with a notification power-failure (strange)
With the mediacreationtool from microsoft I’ve downloaded windows 10 and did an upgrade.
Results, a fine working windows 10 tablet and still the frontcam won’t work.
    any suggestions?
    I’m at bios version 2.16

    grtz

I have Teclast X98 Air II (Wifi) and started the update to Win10 by way of Media Creation Tool.  I was at the screen where there were big circles with number 1 (copying files), 2 (installing feature) and 3.  The tablet suddenly went black at step 2 or 3 and can’t be rebooted again.

Before the upgrade, I choose option ‘do not keep my files and apps’.  The first option was not available as the language seems to be different (although I confirmed both ISO and Tablet were using English UK).

    [Update]
It seems after Windows 10 initial setup, the tablet can not restart byitself. I have to long press power button to force power off and press on again. After setup completed, pressing restart also put the tablet in a black freezing screen. I had to the longpress again.

The rotation works after the driver but it went wrong way. 180 degrees flipped (upside down).

    Leonard,

Is your tablet a dual boot tablet? If it is can you still get to the OS selection screen?

    Jared,
It’s a 32GB so I choose a single OS – Windows 8. All is well now. I just noticed two things so far:

    1) Device Manager – Other Devices – IWDAud_Device_06 that has no drivers. Driver pack has nothing for it
    2) Both camera front and back doesn’t work. The driver is latest to the pack.

    Any idea?

    Hi guys,

I have 0xc0000225 error while trying to upgrade to Win10. Can’t seem to get out of this. Tried Easy Recovery (https://neosmart.net/wiki/0xc0000225/). Followed steps, but it won’t run the USB drive using the Win10 ISO. Goes back to UEFI screen. Tried MS Media Creation Tool (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-sg/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install). USB drive can boot. But I get message PC can’t be repaired. Tried Install, which should mean Win10 ISO gets installed, but it stops with a message to select a “media driver”, and I can’t find one on C:\Windows\inf. Re-running and doing the search on X:\ (boot USB drive letter). Doesn’t let me bypass this. I thought there should be a Safe Mode that doesn’t require special drivers. Taking forever to search for the drivers. Anyone has the same issue? Any quicker way to get around this?

    Thanks.

I’d like to update everyone. So finally after many reboots and updates, my X98 Air II is working as it should. Rotation, camera and everything works just fine. The tablet seems to be warmer than Win 8.1, which is consistent with the battery draining faster than usual. I prefer Win 10 user interface.

Another annoyance is that sometimes the tablet froze (start button, cortana) or when doing some tasks like copying. It seems the CPU is slow or not optimised for Win 10. With clean install (keep nothing) and after deleting Windows.Old directory, the 32GB single OS tablet has around 15-16 GB free space.

I still couldn’t figure out how to start safe mode or recovery mode for this tablet.

I updated to win 10 a couple of weeks ago and haven’t really looked back. I actually installed it before the teclast driver pack was released and I haven’t had to use any of the drivers as everything is already more up to date. I used the media creation tool and aside from wrestling through the Chinese setup to re-download the language packs (for some reason the English language pack was initially full of Chinese?) and having to do a reboot or two after the graphics drivers installed themselves I have had relatively few issues and wanted to compare with the rest of you to see if there are any fixes.

The first problem I am having is miracast doesn’t seem to work, it still works ok in android so there don’t seem to be any issues with the hardware but if you try and detect additional displays after connecting to the miracast dongle (in this case a Sony IM10) it wont pick anything up. Has anyone managed to get miracast to work in win10?

Second, the battery popup (when you click the battery icon in the taskbar) only seems to pop up if you have the device on charge or the battery saver is on.

Third, I cant seem to get any information about my 3g data connection, in win 8.1 it used to show if you were on HSDPA or otherwise, now it just shows a signal level and (usually) connected. This isn’t great as I’m sure that I have dropped onto 2g without knowing and wondered why my data isn’t working.

Fourth, battery drain when the device is asleep is pretty bad, battery saving mode helps but it still seems pretty heavy.

Finally, the clock fix posted above doesn’t seem to work for me, every time I move from android I need to reset the clock.

This seems to be it for now, there are other weird niggles like edge browser causing iplayer videos to go very strange and the odd bit of lag here and there but I am liking windows 10 overall and edge seems like reason enough to update as it is so much quicker than chrome and works so much better than IE. Hopefully someone has found a fix for one or more of the issues, it will be interesting to see how common these problems are.

P.S. I haven’t updated my BIOS yet, I’m still on the original one that shipped from teclast, I may look to updating this soon to se if it solves any issues and then get on with loading some nice lollipop roms! if only the battery didn’t falsely report its capacity and get stuck (usually at 7%) every time I moved between roms (anyone got a fix for this yet?)

I upgraded mine yeterday… I must say I somehow regretted upgrading it

    1. It went back to chinnes language and I couldn’t change it back to English. I have tried different tutorial but it just doesn’t work.

    2.  It lag a lot. I don’t really know what to do about that…

    3.  The brightness is uncontrollable. Even though I press the brightness icon nothing works.

    4.  When I press the power key, (that is if I want to put it in sleep mode) the stuff on it goes off but i could still see the light on which consumes my battery..

If only I could change the language successfully to English,  I could manage the lagging pending the time I get solution to the the problem but if I don’t get solution quick enough from anywhere online I planned reversing it back to 8. 1 (sad…) Till there is solution to the problem. Though I love windows 10 but can’t rendered my companion unused. X98 3G air C8j6 thanks all and a big Thanks to Chris you are doing a great Job

I will try and upload it here… Please if anyone has better idea on how to change the language from Chinese to English I will be glad.. Thank you all

    Hi,

    I have a Teclast x 98 3G c8j6.
I flashed the bios dual boot 2.02 and I flashed (flash-full) the Lillipop Mirek190 rom v4.0 = Ok, perfect.

    I did a clean install of Windows 10 – 32bits (french language) =
    – no bluetooth – no audio – no rotation or touch screen.
I tried to install the drivers from the windows 10 driverpack (C5J6) of Techtablet without result.

Where can I find the drivers for solve these problems?

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Ellena,

I had similar issues on screen rotation and touch being opposite. Touch issue fixed by putting TouchSetting.gt in the C:\Windows\inf directory. Rotation issue fixed by running gsensor.reg. Both files are in the Windows 10 Drivers X98 Air 3G.rar download. I assume that you have fixed all issues (! mark) in Device Manager. Display Adapter might not show an issue if it can load the default Microsoft Driver. So you can try Updating Driver there. I have no issues with Audio or Bluetooth. Check your volume setting and check bluetooth is enabled. Sorry, this part might not be helpful.

I upgraded my X98 Air II (Wifi) just fine with exception the rotation issues which can be fixed by the drivers. I do have one device flagged as unknown/problematic – WDI (Wireless Display) something. Any driver to fix this? It is not on the pack.

Hey guys, when you’re in Win10, load up the Maps application and see your location. Chances are, you’re about 2km-3km away from your actual location. At least that’s what I’m experiencing now. No idea how to workaround it.
