A5C8 Windows10 – Android 5.1 delivered last week. All updates.

    For me:

ADATA micro SDHC 32GB   works on both OS.

Samsung 128GB – EVO SDXC (FAT32) works only Android, Win 10 not see.

Sandisk Ultra 128GB SDXC (FAT32) works only Android, Win 10 not see.

Seller (SHENZHEN OKQI TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD) is rude, lying and documented – see picture

“…hi …I  find you use the SDXC card, actually this tablet can support SD card ,
we don’t know this tablet can support SDXC card or not , we will check with the factory ….”

That is interesting on the specs you post. Perhaps Teclast is now changing the specs as you show rather than come up with a fix. “Windows up to 64gb” to me means 63gb and below but, of course we know that Android is fine probably up to and including 128gb. Gearbest, where I got mine, still shows TF card up to 128Gb http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_286366.html

BUT Teclast info seems to have changed and now just says “TF slot” rather than showing accepted maximum size. http://www.teclast.com/en/zt/X98PlusWin10/

So let me make sure we’re all on the same page.

    • This topic started to discuss strangely low emmc and sdcard write speeds.
    • But now we are discussing whether specific sdcards “work” or not.

Is that perhaps a different issue? If so, that seems like a different topic to me…

Second question. When y’all say sdcards don’t “work,” that means specifically that it has been difficult getting a variety of larger-than-32GB sdcards to be visible to Windows on the NEWER android/win dual boot X98 Plus, correct? If I understand, no one with the original Windows-only X98 Plus has this issue… right? (I have the original Win-only and my 128GB Samsung works, just more slowly than I’d like.)

Would you like those of us discussing SD card issues for the A5C8 Plus to revert to the “Tips and tricks” forum (which some were concerned was getting too long at 9 pages) now that this is 2 pages long ? Myself I like to just keep an eye on a couple of forums specific to my tablet no matter what the issues might be. For my phone and the just the Rom I have on it the thread is 495 pages and has 6,858 posts but searching just the thread is easy. I think the problem  might be that there are 3 different models with the “Plus” name. If there was just an area for the newest A5C8 Plus dual boot I would be happy just to post there and read there and to share ideas on the issues we users of that specific model are having.

New topic created for A5C8 version. I will try to PM those who have been discussing this model in other areas tomorrow to let them know not to post in other Plus topics.

Neil, I think you’re right that there are model-specific issues getting mixed together here. Any clarity we can bring to this via smart moderation and well-defined threads would be welcome.

So the slow emmc / sdcard write speeds are one issue (this thread), and the A5C8 being unable to read many cards is another (your new thread), right?
(Edit: Oh, I see your new thread is actually very general in scope. Well, we’ll see how it goes. I would suggest that one difference between XDA and here is that this forum software seems less robust / feature-rich / versatile.)

Alexandra, the SD card issues (slowness and not working SD above 64GB) are related to each other.

If you use new Win10 drivers most sdxc cards won’t work.

If you install old Win8.1 drivers everything works fine but speed drops from 90 MB/s to 10 MB/s

Well it seems that the SD issue has now migrated to “turned dual now SD problem” topic. I agree with you regarding the XDA design and it seems that here a new topic is being created for every issue so it is necessary to flip from topic to topic rather than page to page. I was hoping that anything related to the A5C8 could be posted in just one area for convenience but that does not appear to be the protocol here. Anyway I don’t have much to add so I think I will just lurk for a while. Meanwhile I think that Supercowz on XDA, and occasionally here is working hard on a custom Rom and may well find a solution for the SD issue when he gets his 128gb card for the A5C8.

When you say “new Win10 drivers” does that mean the drivers I have from resetting my Windows-only X98 Plus and then installing all Windows updates, up to and including the big November update? My 128GB Samsung certainly “works” with them… just too slowly.

I couldn’t get a PNY 128GB card to work, but no problem with a 32GB PNY and Sandisk.

    Hi.

Maybe this is the right place…

I also have a X98 Plus and also with the SD problem on Windows 10.

I tried 5 different cards of 64Gb at 2 stores.

Sandisk, Emtec, Toshiba and Integral not recognized at all. Samsung recognized, but I didn’t check if it accepts data, just checked the recognition.

I only got the brands, not the complete specs of those cards, but since the first 4 were on sell, I think they were all Class 10, maybe some were SDHX. The Samsung was a card not on sell, they have it at the store and allow me to check it since the others were not working.

I also check a 16Gb Samsung SDHC card that I have from another smartphone. This one is recognized but doesn’t work, that is, there’s a sound when it is inserted and it appears in File Explorer, as SD Card, but Windows don’t recognize it’s capacity and after some time it disappears from the list. So, it’s useless. However, it works fine on Android part.

Two other old cards are recognized and working fine: one with 248 Mb and another with 4 Gb (brand Team, SDHC, Class 6).
