I’ve got one, had it for couple weeks now. It’s been just fine, the screen is great and it seems plenty quick enough for me. It’s dual OS but I don’t really use the android one as WIN10 is better suited for me, have not bought the stylus yet as I don’t really need it. I had a ASUS transformer before and putting them against each other the HI12 looks fantastic, watching 4k videos is amazing compared to that. I bought it on the basis of the screen (it still seems to be the only one with the surface pro screen) and the functioning USB 3.0 port which easily powers my external drives. It got a good review on here too, and Chris would certainly know what he is talking about as his collection of tablets must be huge by now. And all of this for a mere $328 NZD, there was nothing else close.

Where is the stylus available to buy?
May 2, 2016 at 3:05 am #35775it’s just a lottery for any chuwi product.
if you win a good one it worth the purchase otherwise it will be a headache
What I've used and what I've got:
TECLAST X98 AIR 3G, TECLAST X98 AIR II, TECLAST X98 PRO,CHUWI HI8, CHUWI HI12, CUBE I9May 2, 2016 at 4:16 am #35780I got mine 3 day ago.
VERY satisfied.
One weakness I found, the wifi reception. Not as strong, as mineiPAD Air2 or Surface Pro 3.
Fantastic battery life (25% brightness, which looks small, but in real life sufficient) Im getting some 8-9 hours.
May 2, 2016 at 8:44 am #35792It’s nice to read some positive comments.
When you buy the device you want to use it minimum for the next few months without thinking about repairing. But some of the people are talking about problems with using hi12 when it’s connected to the charger. Also I read about some unexpected noise in low brightness settings, and the worst- destroying bios chip after first charging.
I understand that with china tablets is usually lottery. Maybe you have some experience and know the best source to buy it? There is a lot of websites like aliexpress, or banggood – did you think that maybe better tested devices are available in banggood than in the other sites?
May 2, 2016 at 9:34 am #35795I would definitely buy again – I did in fact after bricking my first Hi12 trying the Dual OS BIOS I now have my second Hi12. As other comments have said it is a bit of a lottery but I think if you get a working unit, nothing even comes close for the price. Have to add that the Android build on the Dual bot model is great, minima bloat and smooth. There were a few Chinese apps but they could all be uninstalled easily
May 2, 2016 at 11:17 am #35799Some comments:
- Yes, I will buy the “cheap crap” Chinese tablets again 🙂
- I have Surface Pro 3. iPad Air 2.
- I bought Teclast X98 . It was a very good tablet, considering the price.
- I sold it, just to buy Chuwi Hi12. It did not arrived, was replaced by GearBest with the same, but dual boot and with stylus support.
Got it after waiting a month. And again, Im very happy with it. - The main reason was a pdf magazine reading. Im reading a lot. Really a lot pdf files. So I was looking after something 12 ” .
- The modifications:
a) I always attach a “magnet style charger – USB micro end”. Like Mac Book has. Its a weakness of Chinese tablets, the micro USB port, and I noticed some “strange behavior” of a tablet, when I used just a micro USB charging cable.
I bought a tempered class protector for it. And thats all. Except, of weaker wifi reception, (there where the iPAD or Surface Pro working so so, there Chuwi gave up 🙂 ) it working fine, not a problem. Of course I did a complete reset and a new installations. - Mine arrived from GearBest, and was “not untouched”. I mean, there somebody played with it, did a language modification to Englisch language. So it was tested, and the chance of Dead on Arrival, or broken something, or not working something was minimalised.
- And already ordered a Teclast Kindow reading tablet too.
- Till now, Im very happy with all my Chinese tablets. For the price, there is nothing wrong, I can say about them.
May 2, 2016 at 11:31 am #35801Thanks to all for your response- I will do exactly the same like Laco Dekany- a lootttt of pdf, but not with text- with the musical scores. That’s why 12 inches 3:2 ratio is obligatory and minimum to see full size pages.
So you have positive opinion about gearbest, because someone test it before sending it to you. How about banggood? Any experiance?
I want to choose the best trusted website to order it.
May 3, 2016 at 10:53 am #35904I have, on my 2nd unit now the dual OS model and I would definatly buy it again. But it’s a lottery, some people like me get good units, but you do get the odd faulty or defective one. The quality control Chuwi has is not as good as a brand like Acer, ASUS or DELL. That’s Chinese tablets for you.
I think for the price it’s a great tablet.
- One of the best 12″ screens and 3:2 ratio
- Really good battery life
- USB ports 4 full usb ports in total with the keyboard
- Light and fast stock Android rom
- Nice large size keyboard. But the quality and build of the dock is very average, screws fell out of mine and I had to glue them in!
Sure it’s not perfect.
Build quality is okay. Some units have had issues but my two are perfect apart from the speakers and 3.5mm jack both have some light static over them (Others report clear sound)

Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30May 3, 2016 at 10:10 pm #35975Thank you @Chris for your answer. You have a lot of experiences with tablets, so if you will find few minutes free:
Let’s compare 2 tablets- chuwi hi12 and cube i9, which you will choose? But one important thing – Don’t look at performance (like external ssd in i9), possibility with upgrades (like heat sink mod) etc etc. Just compare between quality of manufacture (I mean, which device is better create by company). I know that both of the device you open and see how it looks inside. I belive that because of experiences with different devices you have kind of feeling, that you are holding piece of crap, or something more carefully created. Also don’t forget about the last, also important – is it make sense to pay almost 200 euro more?
(Chuwi hi12: ~200 euro with discount, banggood.
Cube i9: 396 euro, aliexpress)
I am sorry that this topic is about everything. But I hope that someone also is looking for answer for that questions.

Yes! Windows 10 mode is a little bit laggy and some annoying little bugs (Cant turn off gestures with touchpad)
But Android Mode is brilliant. Feels like a high quality tablet. Super fast for me. I hope it will get aNDROID 6
May 4, 2016 at 11:48 pm #36100@misiem735 Compared to the Hi12, the Cube i9 has much better keyboard, build and everything apart from the screen. The Hi12’s screen is much better. And yes I would say it’s worth the extra $200, but only if you need the extra power on offer from the 6Y30.
No point wasting $200 if you are just going to do light browsing for example, the Atom can handle light tasks.

Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30May 5, 2016 at 4:59 am #36112Actually I will never buy any dedicated keyboard, because I don’t need it. I have logitech k700 which is working perfectly, also with tablets and tv’s.
Is there any option to do similar heat sink mode for the processor in hi12, and what is also important- for bios? I know that Chuwi don’t have so big problems with overheating, but electronical devices like to have more cold in the summer time 😉
And I expect that kind of answer. Again thank you so so so much 😉
May 5, 2016 at 1:04 pm #36175No. The tablet is fantastic but I hate how the keyboard launch was handled by Chuwi so I won’t buy from them ever again.
In the future I will buy tablets that have the keyboard bundled so I don’t have to wait.
May 5, 2016 at 2:27 pm #36189I actually do not care that much about having the keyboard that docks with a tablet. I have plenty of bluetooth keyboards lying around. My main issue is how do you get the tablet to stand up like a monitor without the keyboard. For this reason alone, I lean towards the tablets with built in kick stands. I don’t want to pay $45 for a stand (keyboard).
