Thanks Rahul – last question (for now) – if i mess up the new SSD or format on the existing 64gb SSD, is there anyway to download an ISO for the original teclast x2 pro windows installation?
November 11, 2015 at 10:45 pm #15610Teclast images are overloaded with Chinese crap. You will be better off doing a fresh install and installing all the drivers. However, there must be a place to download the image ISO but those will be in chinese. You will have to take a look at official teclast forums.
November 11, 2015 at 10:53 pm #15611Ok thanks!
Seems like you’ve had yours for a while – whats your experience:
- what do you use it for? does it do it well? what does it do poorly?
- battery life?
- physical build quality – is it tough? has it survived drops/bumps?
- would you buy again?

Rahul may you should delete the picute with your product key?
Anthony there is a review of this tablet on this site – may it helps you. (I don’t have the tablet – it is on the way – ordered from banggood. So I can’t tell you much about it).
Anyone know the exact measurement in millimeter of the screen (incl. the black borders). Because I will need this data for ordering an antireflection screenprotector.
November 12, 2015 at 9:00 am #15624Rahul,
- What is the thickness of thermal pad at the top of the thermal pad? I want to assess space between copper plate and back cover in order to purchase proper copper plate.
- What are the dimensions of stock copper plate?
- And what is the thickness of thermal pad between CPU and copper plate. Because if thermal pad is replaced with thermal paste, the gap between heat spreader and back cover will increase.
- What is the profit of such a mod, have you measured temp difference? Or you can just tell the actual temperature in particular bench after mod.
Thanks!
November 12, 2015 at 9:22 am #15626You cannot get the key from the product ID. Product ID = generic identification of what version/type of Windows you’re installing, which is the same for everyone. 🙂
I am using a i7 remix 11.6″ screen gaurd. Works well for me.. around 1mm of gap on all sides.
November 12, 2015 at 9:30 am #15627IÂ did not take any measurement. The pad between the CPU and the copper heat sink plate is held by screws. It was very thin after being sandwiched between both. After removing it and adding the thermal paste, I tightened it to sit flush with the cpu soc.. so there is no gap even after replacing the pad with the paste.
The temp of the processor is 2-3 degrees lower. The best benefit of this mod is a lot less thermal throttling. Anyone with a Core M tablet can let you know of the heats generated with this tablet which eventually leads to throttling. With only passive cooling available, the faster you can dissipate the heat.. the lesser thermal throttling you will get. However, I would not recommend this to be done by someone who is not familiar of the process.
Edit: To add, thermal paste needs some time to “cure”. Usually they need 20-40 heat and cool cycles to settle down properly. So you wont see temp differences as soon as you apply thermal paste. You might even see higher temps. Pastes take approx a week to settle down properly and will always be better than thermal pads (good quality pastes).
November 13, 2015 at 2:12 pm #15737Hey there! I want to get this Tablet for college in Feb. I want to know would it be strong enough for programming? Java and C Sharp. Basically would it hold the IDE’s like Eclipse and Android Studio?
November 14, 2015 at 8:55 am #15773Hi Rahul – some questions for you:
- Assuming the banggood ship a legal licence of Windows 10, how do i go about reinstalling windows 10? (is there an iso/install i can download?)
- Is there a way to get / write down the licence key before i format? is this even how it works?
- if i was to purchase an m2 ssd (“2242” size) – would that fit and do i install windows as per above?
- Which m2 4g modem did you get? do you have a link?
- lastly, what are “doubledrivers”?
If you want to find out what your license-key is you can download and install magic jelly bean. Just install it and run and it will tell what your key is.
November 14, 2015 at 1:35 pm #15790I think this should be good enough for programming needs. Maybe you can google the performance of the processor and see if it can handle your processing requirements.
November 15, 2015 at 8:32 am #15841Hello guys. Is anybody experiencing issues with 2.5 HDDs? I have one of 1TB but the tablet doesn’t recognize it.. Well it tries to mount it, but as soon as it mounts it appears with no details about space and then it gets immediately dismounted. Any idea? Thank you!
November 15, 2015 at 9:15 am #15842maybe the tablet dont have enough power to run it? Try to connect the charger and see if it works
November 16, 2015 at 9:32 am #15899I just tested with my 1TB WD USB 3 HDD. Works fine for me. Must be low power issue as Daniel pointed out.
November 16, 2015 at 7:05 pm #15944Rahul,
What are the bios settings on Teclast x2? Can user lower CPU/GPU voltage, frequency in order to minimize TDP and temperature?
November 17, 2015 at 9:32 am #15968I have not tried any BIOS settings. It is the same BIOS which is used in the i7 stylus, so I guess if you could find some BIOS settings instructions for TDP then you can definitely try it.
Also, dont get bothered by the temperature. It is very normal for the processor to reach 85 degree C and above in full 100% CPU load. All Core M processors heat with passive cooling… be it in a tablet manufactured by ASUS, Microsoft, etc or by any Chinese manufacturers.
