It’s not expandable, it’s soldered.
Look at the last photo in ren’s comment #18019
(someone correct me if I’m wrong)
December 17, 2015 at 7:21 pm #18987The CPU and the RAM in the X2 Pro are both SMDs (surface mount devices, not through-hole). Not user-replaceable. One of the many plusses of the X2 Pro is that storage is not an eMMC, which is an SMD, but is an M.2 card, which can be replaced by the user. The lower cost Shenzen tablets all use eMMC. When the Cube i7 Stylus was “value engineered” to the Cube iwork 11 Stylus, the M.2 card was replaced by eMMC, and the M 5Y10c CPU replaced with an Atom.
December 18, 2015 at 12:17 am #19020Hi @Hualalai,
Please know you the best way to open the X2 Pro?
Which side which tool?
That would be very nice.
Nice greetings from Vienna
RobertDecember 18, 2015 at 12:38 am #19021Robert, my X2 Pro is in transit. Rahul is the best source of advice on getting the back plate off (see his posts and pix above).

Thanks! 😀
So the only mod´s available are the storage and the 4g lte module. nice 🙂
How is it called? The type of antenna that is placed to LTE module, can´t find it 😛December 18, 2015 at 10:08 am #19044LTE antenna, or 4G antenna, for notebook computer.
You definitely want to do the heat sink mods, too. The heat sink mods should be done even if you do not add a 4G modem or replace the M.2 drive. Posts in this thread report that normal use will discolor the LCD on the X2 Pro.
The antenna is for specific RF bands. The modem is matched (tuned) to the antenna and to a given country’s 4G bands. CN is different from US is different from EU is different from IN is different from BR, etc. The modem has two connections. One antenna is 4G and one antenna is GPS.

can I use the free slot for something else (for example a second ssd), or only for a modem?

I was wondering that too. I want to add a wifi-card with better range and 5ghz. Anyone know if I can do that?
December 18, 2015 at 7:37 pm #19104I think it’s a dedicated modem slot. You can try, but I need 4G more than I need more storage.
WRT wifi, IDK. My X2 Pro is in transit. When you get your unit, open it up and look for antennas. The wifi module may be SMD, as used in mobile phones, but it could be in a socket.
December 18, 2015 at 7:53 pm #19107I have now ordered the modem set

so this can be used as a gps aswell? So you dont think its worth buying a wifi module to test?
December 18, 2015 at 8:27 pm #19115The built-in WiFi is not good, 4G is certainly a lot better in the connection.
