@Robert. Thanks… techship.se. A new source for me.
December 29, 2015 at 2:39 pm #20389I finally got my X2 Pro yesterday from Gearbest, I wiped the pre-installed windows and installed a fresh copy, to my delight it activated itself. I did a windows update and then installed the non Microsoft drivers for the touchscreen etc. My next action on the tablet is to install my 256gb NGFF ssd card but I’m a bit worried about opening the back case. One of my work colleagues suggested this kit. I really don’t feel comfortable using a hot gun or hair dryer.

I am searching.December 29, 2015 at 5:56 pm #20423@Robert. The drivers for the ME906V are different from the E, so I want to download the V drivers. Thanks for your help, and for the dropbox.
Do you have your ME906E modem installed and working?
It appears the ME906x needs a firmware update to work with Win 10. The ME906V is approved by AT&T and many other carriers, but only for Win 7 and Win 8. The ME906x was the first LTE modem in an M.2 form factor, and uses USB 2.0 as a com port. The Teclast X1 Pro (which also used the ME906x) was a Win 8.1 dual boot device. Huawei has moved on to the ME936 (added an LTE band, among other things), but the details on the ME936 do not say “Win 10”.
The older HP drivers for the ME906V install, but the end result is “Insert SIM”. The July 2015 HP driver installs something, and by doing a manual driver update, I clear the Other Devices in DevMgr, but can’t connect with “3G modem”, and I don’t get the “Insert SIM” prompt. The August 2015 firmware update “finds the port” in step 2, but “get device information” fails (“Error 12”) in step 2. With the earlier HP drivers, the firmware update failed in step 3. In both older and newer drivers, I get “driver is current” and “working properly”.
December 29, 2015 at 7:39 pm #20440I have me906e worked with huawei drivers. It works(LTE) without huawei drivers with standart win10 driver, but you cannot update firmware or run gps than. After huawei drivers installed and huawei mobile parner, I could send sms, ussd commands and run gps via AT commands. I should say, the alluminium backplate cover is a pro=)blem for gps, so you can find sattelits only without it =)
My firmware is 11.234 and software is 23.009. You need to do some magic with device manager to make the drivers from huawei work.
December 29, 2015 at 10:09 pm #20456@Ren. Thanks. So… install Huawei Mobile Partner messaging app, then Huawei drivers. OR, install Huawei drivers, then Mobile Partner app?
Mobile Partner 23.009.09.02.910 doesn’t work with the July 2015 HP drivers on the ME906V, but Mobile Partner does install a bunch of devices in Network Adapters.
For GPS, you could cut a notch in the top edge of the backplate and tape the GPS antenna to the plastic margin. For that matter, you could put both antennae outside through the same notch for better signal strength.
December 30, 2015 at 4:06 am #20493@ren what kind of magic in the device manager are you talking about?
December 30, 2015 at 6:50 am #20503I installed the mobile partner, than deleted some drivers in device manager, than installed Huawei drivers, rebooted, than manualy installed drivers for unknown devices in device manager from Huawei folder
December 30, 2015 at 10:23 am #20527I downloaded the latest USB driver for the ME906V and installed the drivers and Mobile Partner. I tried both ways, MP first, then the USB driver package, and v.v. Could not get the Insert SIM message I got on the old drivers.
Under Network Adapters, the only device added was a Generic Mobile Broadband adapter. Under Sensors, a Huawei GNSS appeared. When I tried to update the Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter by pointing to the ME906V driver folder, the message was current driver is good.
There is no firmware update file on the Techship site for the V version. I have emailed Jakob about it.
December 30, 2015 at 5:50 pm #20589You need to uninstall USB broadband controller driver too.Than you should chose drive for it from huawei. Than reboot.
January 1, 2016 at 7:50 am #20811The Huawei V version USB driver package installs the “Generic” driver. After installing an earlier (pre-July 2015) driver set for the V version, I did see a Huawei broadband network adapter in the Network Adapters section of Device Manager, and that version prompted “Insert SIM”… but a good SIM was already inserted. So.. I think the “firmware update” that is available for the E version makes the E version work in Windows 10, but there is no firmware update for the V version. The E version is popular in China, so the E version gets firmware and driver updates, but the ME906V is not used in new models by US IT companies. HP and Dell dropped Huawai modems and moved to Sierra Wireless modems.
I have ordered a Sierra Wireless EM7355 4G modem. Same interface specs as the Huawei, but Sierra Wireless publishes a Windows 10 driver and communications manager for the EM7355. There are regional versions of the EM73xx product line.
January 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm #21110@Jakob. You’ll never be satisfied with the bundled wifi. USD 20 buys wifi happiness on the X2 Pro. I find I have zero stutter with USB 3.0 peripherals when I use a USB 3.0 powered hub (USD 17). With a passive hub, I’ve seen stutters.
thx for the link, and yep the USB3.0 ports certainly make sense for working around the pour wifi range-interface..
what seems to be the same product can be optain in no name land to a little under 10 bucks shipped, in regards to amazon 30US// Scandinavia.

numerous USB adapters in both USB3 & 2-fundament where the inner cirquit is extremely small and would be great if it was possible to hijack the USB 3 wires under the hood and not have an annoying USB adapter killing some of the tablet experience,..
havent got my x2 pro open yet so got no insigt in inner structure..
would be great with an overview of the upgrade possiblelities and partically thrue inner slots, and wich m2 cards where succesfull and under wich conditions..
