Do not short out pins on the flash chip, you are putting the SoC under a lot of stress. This isn’t a reset procedure you are just forcing the chip select high to stop the flash sending data and thereby trigger a CRC error. This is the modern day equivalent of shorting out the RTC backup battery, which was also a bad idea.

Use the external programmer, with a 1.8V adaptor if needed (look up the chip’s datasheet to find it it’s needed).
