Anyone have a suggestion?
July 12, 2016 at 5:37 pm #43291I’ve got a cube iwork 10. I’ve also had a Dell Venue 11 so those are the only two I can compare. The Dell is really a laptop stuffed into a tablet. It’s bulky, hotter than hell, and loud because it has to have a fan to cool the i5 laptop processor. However, it’s blisteringly fast compared to this iwork 10.
That said, I really like the iwork 10. It’s not very heavy, has an excellent screen, and is functional enough. I’ve played Hearthstone and Civ5 on the lowest settings with it and they run fine, but they eat the battery. I should turn the settings up gradually to see what it can do, but I haven’t felt it necessary.
I also have the keyboard dock which adds more connectivity. The housing is all metal and it feels substantial. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall apart. This was important to me. I didn’t want one of those surface style docks. I wanted something stronger. If you need more oomph, there are other cube tablets that have the Intel M-series CPUs. They all seem to use the same shell more or less so I would expect them to have the same solid feel.
July 14, 2016 at 6:09 am #43451Nothing in 10 inches from China has a build like the Mi Pad 2, but the iwork10 Ultimate as suggested above and the Chuwi HiBook. There is also the Cube i7 Stylus and i7 Book if you want more power, I’m reviewing the i7 book now and it flies. Very quick & fluid with its Core M3, for anything serious on a tablet Core M’s are the way to go.
@scutmonkey I had a Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130 i5 4300Y, that was the tablet that got me into 2-in-1 in the first place. Nice unit but mine had it’s fair share of issues with two dead battery keyboard docks. And yes it’s hot and loud with it’s tiny, but high rpm fans. My Cube i7 Book is even faster than that tablet and fanless, how times have changed. But they are very similar, the i7 Book is like a Venue 11 pro clone with updated specs.Chris | Admin

Next up for review:
Ordered and waiting for my: BMAX S15 & Teclast F6 Plus
Currently testing: LG G8X & Redmi K30July 14, 2016 at 3:02 pm #43498Thanks for the reply guys. I was wondering if you had seen any of the new OGS screens on the HiBook Pro? I saw it was posted as a note but there wasn’t a review on it. For comparison, do most of the Dell and other screens from US tablets come standard as OGS, or use gorilla glass? They don’t seem to be mentioned in the spec sheets at all but it seems like the Chinese tablets are cheaper, easier to scratch screens by default. And although tempting, I don’t think I need something as powerful as an M-series cpu, as it is mostly for wife, so watching movies, web, and some reading.
