Hello guys, I am looking for cheap 8″ tablet, and based on availability, I am currently picking from Chuwi hi8 pro (with preinstalled dual-boot, so the issues reported on this forum should be solved), or Teclast x80 plus.
Chuwi hi8 pro
Pros: Better build quality
Cons: FullHD screen – it is con, because theoretically, it should have FAR worse battery life and i personally think, that 1280×800 is enough for 8″Teclast x80 plus
Pros: Slightly lower price and shipping time, theoretically longer battery life
Cons: Bad build, big gap between glass and actual displayCould somebody help me with picking one please?
The question I have about battery life with these sorts of tablets: At the moment, I have two and a half year old 8″ tablet with Mediatek chipset (MT8389, 28nm) with 4000mAh battery, and the battery life is actually about 4-5 hours but when it was new, in standardized test of streaming 720p video with 50% brightness, it done solid 7 hours.
Tablets like Teclast x80 plus are usually claimed to have battery life about 3-4 hours (also by Chris). I find that hard to believe, since atom z8300 is made using 14nm technology, which should have positive impact on battery life. Also, I found some german video on Youtube reviewing Teclast x80 plus, and from what i was able to understand, it managed to stream 720p video with 50% brightness for 8 hours, which i find close to what I will be expecting from me experience. Can anyone with actual experience give me any input?
All replies will be greatly appreciated.April 14, 2016 at 6:05 am #33437I am very happy with chuwi hi8 (not the pro); good battery life

Personally I would steer clear of the Hi8 pro it sounds like a nightmare looking through the forum, the Hi8 has been rock solid for me and the performance difference is not much according to Chris. Of course you miss out on Lollipop but 4.4.4 on the Hi8 is a good rom.
