@chris I increased my budget to almost double, is this a good alternative to the Cube i7 Book. Have you ever used the HP spectre x2 before? It has 4x the amount of storage, better speakers and probably thermals also and arguably a better design.
If you have reviewed it before, I would like to see your in-depth review. If not can you still tell me what you think of it.
August 5, 2016 at 10:40 pm #45794I’m sure that HP would be better, I haven’t used it. Only mainstream tablets I use are the Surface line. The rest the Chinese great others don’t review.
It will have the support, speakers, build better than the Chinese brands. Go for it.Chris | Admin

Thanks for the advice 🙂
September 6, 2016 at 3:50 am #48996Hi, this kind of mod always increases surface temps. Internal CPU max temp dropped 20 degrees, but the outer housing when gaming or encoding video gets very hot to the touch. This is the trade-off in transferring heat to the rear housing. I use HWinfo to monitor CPU & GPU temps.
This is ignorant of thermodynamics.
The CPU is generating heat at a fixed rate. Under steady-state conditions, all the various junctions (die – package, package – heatspreader, heatspreader – back cover, back cover – surroundings) must be carrying heat outward at the same rate at which it is generated. The heat lost from the back cover depends on the temperature difference between it and the air or desk against it. So that won’t change. If anything, because adding a thermal pad transfers heat from the CPU package to a greater area of the back cover, the cover temperature ought to be more even, with hotter cold spots and cooler hotspots.
Knowing that the back cover temperature stays the same explains why the internal temps decrease. Because the conductivity between heatspreader and cover is better, the temperature difference doesn’t need to be as great. The difference between the die and package and heatspreader isn’t changing, so they drop the same amount.
Now, if you aren’t running at the same CPU load, because the CPU is no longer throttling, then the heat generation will increase, and then the temperature difference between cover and environment must increase also. But that does not mean that the mod made the back cover hotter, it means that driving the CPU harder did. You might equally well say that the thermal mod decreases battery runtime, which is also an expected result of reducing throttling.
What will happen is that the back cover will heat up to its steady-state temperature more quickly. But that steady-state won’t be any hotter than before unless the CPU is running at a higher average clock frequency.
May 9, 2017 at 4:01 am #666921. Well, you know mine – 97 degrees C max as per my review.
2. In balanced mode it will stay cooler, but if you game or encode a video (something taxing) it will still get into the 90’s
3. Yes it can to some degree using Intel XTU, it will lower temps a few degrees.
4. The easiest mod would be to just add a large thermal pad.
I’ve ordered a cube i7 book.
I’m concerned about the heat issues I’ve read about here.
I’m not going to use this little tablet for gaming but I will definitely watch HD video on it.
I think that option 4 might be OK for me?Has anyone tried this option and if so, what results are you getting?
Does it make much difference to temperatures? Thanks

Don’t worry. I use mine just for videos with no mod and the heat does not bother me. My cooling pad arrived but I’m too lazy to do the mod… you can do the easy one if you are concerned.

Exactly the same as me. When I ordered the Mix Plus, after reading all post about the thermal problem, I also bougth cooling pad, copper shame, etc… They are still in their respective boxes because I do not feel the need to do the thermal mod. Even if I play some “small” games, the tablet is not warm enough to think in open the tablet with the risk it means. I have to say that I used to use the tablet with the original keyboard and I dont need to have it in my hands the whole time
July 27, 2017 at 2:36 pm #69730Hey guys, I’m new here, so hello everybody.
I have another question regarding this tablet, but first, some context. I’m a student (university) who take notes on a tablet. For the past 3 years I’ve used an ipad mini, and it still works pretty well, but I’m starting to be uncomfortable with 7.9″ screen. I don’t have a very high budget, lets say 300-350€, and I don’t mind switching to a windows device instead of iOS. So, here’s my question: is this a good tablet for note taking? I saw the review and the creator update video about palm rejection, but I’d like to have as many feedback as possible. my concern is basically all about the non-laminated screen, with that space between the glass and the digitizer. Does it affect stylus precision?
If the answer is something like “no mate, this tablet is pretty bad for note taking” what do you reccomend?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English, not my language 😛August 4, 2017 at 6:50 pm #70118I made a few tests, for me it’s OK for note taking. The precision is quite good but be advised to use a nice screen protector.
April 5, 2026 at 9:16 pm #248430I saw a vibrant digital ad while browsing for local news in Canada. I decided to visit https://casoolas.ca/ because the art style really caught my eye. I usually stick to a few specific online casinos, but this one felt fresh. I had a bit of a losing streak on the tables at first, which was discouraging. However, I managed to hit a big win on a live game that completely turned things around. I ended my session with a larger balance.
