I would really appreciate your input, as I need to confirm with banggood as soon as possible.
Thank you

I have a Plus and for the things you want it to do it is fine for. The latest games might not run as good but I gladly trade that for 8hrs of battery life I get on the Plus.
December 14, 2015 at 8:54 pm #18615The X98 Pro has a more powerful and faster CPU (Cherry Trail X5-Z8500) compared to the X98 Plus (Cherry Trail X5-Z8300), so if it’s processing power you’re after then the X98 Pro would be the better deal.
And if you feel adventurous : you can mod the X98 Pro and add a full size USB port for proper connectivity. (see sticky threads in this forum)
December 14, 2015 at 9:09 pm #18616I know about the difference in the processors, I was just wondering if it makes such a big difference. I managed to play, for example, Pillars of eternity on the pro (with relatively low settings) without big problems. Can I do the same on the plus?
Is there something similarly powerful as the pro with longer batter and similar price range?
Has the x98 pro been discontinued?
December 14, 2015 at 10:53 pm #18620The base frequency is exactly the same for both CPU’s (1.44 GHz), but the burst frequency differs quite a bit (1.84 GHz for the X5-Z8300 as opposed to 2.24 GHz for the X5-Z8500)… That means that the X98 Pro can be 21.75% faster than the X98 Plus under certain conditions.
I don’t know how often CPU-intensive games will run at burst frequency or for how long the CPU will be able to keep this up before it throttles down for thermal reasons, but it might be noticeable. 21.75% is a big difference… I suggest that you take a look at Chris’ review videos and check out and compare the benchmark numbers of both tablets : they’ll give you a fairly good indication of the difference in speed.P.S. : I also noticed on the intel website that the X5-Z8300 specs list a max. amount of 2 GB RAM (1-channel) and 1x PCIe 2.0 lane, while the X5-Z8500 specs list max. 8 GB of RAM (2-channel) and 2x PCIe 2.0 lanes… But I noticed that the X98 Plus is equipped with 4 GB RAM according to the official teclast website specs ??? Did intel mess up the X5-Z8300 specs sheet or can the X98 Plus only see/use 2 GB of RAM ???
December 15, 2015 at 8:40 am #18644I have been through the videos and reviews and the x98 pro looks more responsive and snappy.
Since there is no other suggestion on the table, I guess I will go for the pro model and hope that I will not have as many problems this time…
Thank you all for your help.
December 15, 2015 at 3:18 pm #18715X98 Plus has 4GB of RAM ,but single channel ( which to normal user really does not make a big difference ).
December 15, 2015 at 4:44 pm #18722How about the x16 pro? its same specs but with bigger and lower resolution screen. If it doesn’t have the same overheating issues then it will probably run newer games better. I personally like the 4:3 ratio of the x98 as its much nicer for web browsing and works better with old games (the only ones I really play on my x98 pro)
December 15, 2015 at 6:48 pm #18734I already asked them to send me the x98 pro as replacement. but I will keep in mind the x16 pro in case I have problems again with the x98 pro.
I also prefer the 4:3 ration as I usually shoot in 4:3, and the screen is great for reviewing my photos!
