Mine is working just fine. This laptop has had quite many quality control problems so your mileage may vary.

Keyboard and battery life are not that great but for me the screen was the main selling point. 609 USD is quite high price, I have seen it going for 550. For 600 you can already get the last year Xiaomi air 13 model with i5 and dedicated GPU. Only thing that is “worse” in the xiaomi is the screen and that it is actively cooled.

So it all depends whether you want a 4K screen with 3:2 aspect ratio or not.

I have had the Thinker i35 since June. It is a good device. Obviously the major plus for it is the amazing screen. It is great looking and I have had no structural problems with mine at all (I have seen the videos where the screen pops out the housing, and keyboard problems, but I don’t have these issues). Only negatives I can find –

    1) While the alloy build looks fantastic, it is a soft and thin alloy and does scratch quite easily. It is not nearly as solid as the macBook Pro. I often have the Thinker and my MacBook Pro side by side, and sometimes the MacBook has rubbed against the Thinker, leaving scratches…but zero scratches on the MacBook.

    2) The touchpad. I like the fingerprint reader, but the touchpad could really use a glass surface like the MacBook Pro. I find it has a very plastic feel to it. Not smooth like my MacBook Pro. The response to two finger scrolling is not that good. Where my MacBook glides when scrolling, the Thinker scrolls like a tractor.

Apart from the two points above, it is an excellent laptop and well worth purchasing – I would purchase it again if I had the decision again.

Oh, the battery life – not that great, I get 4.5 hours. Now, if they were to bring out a MK 2 version of this laptop, I would like to see: 1) Micro SD card slot 2) HDMI slot. 3) Glass surface on the trackpad 4) Better battery life. Then it would pretty much be the best laptop out there.

Great, thanks for your input! I might buy this since the Jumper Plus seems to be a bad build.

Still going fine my one, no complaints really just the same as my review, the battery life. Struggling to get 5 hours, my Core M3 Mi Notebook Air 2016 model is only around 5 1/2 hours so use to the poor run time on Chinese Core M3 tech. The keyboard could be a little better, but overall fine on my unit. But there was a post in the forum of one person with a loose key on their keyboard. So yes, it seems the build quality varies from batch to batch.

The screen every time I look at it after using my other gear I have it always gives me that wow factor, such a beautify screen. Bright, sharp, accurate touch and a joy to use.

I sent mine back due to a flickering screen. Ended up buying a iWork5X (which has its own issues for others but mine has been fine thus far). There seems to be a high rate of defects with Cube products so your milage may vary.

Very happy with mine, use it all day every day for web development. The screen makes it to be honest. I don’t actually find the keyboard too shabby either despite coding and writing on it daily – although it did really wind me up until I learnt how to disable the power button. Speed and performance both pretty good after a 4gb stand in model the 6 months prior.

Have a much more powerful desktop in the office but likewise always feel sad going back to 1080p screens – tend to work from home on this screen instead! I was deliberating between this and an XPS but in the end realised I could buy 3 of these for the price of a Dell so with lots of travel and 3 children to break stuff it still seems a good choice.

Not happy with mine, didn’t last 5 mins ;).  Ordered one from the Banggood $399USD sale a few weeks back.  Out of the box wouldn’t boot up (no power) so plugged it in for a few hours. Came back, booted up and see “No battery is detected” in the task bar when hovering over the battery icon. No battery in the Device Manager. Ugh! Unit also shuts itself down randomly. Message to BG support sent.

    Hi everyone.

I’m that one guy with the key popping out.

    1. Its still my main laptop and I’ve put in days and weeks worth of typing but the partially popped out key remains the same.

It feels like itll come out but it hasn’t so I dont mind.

    2. The screen is beautiful I agree, makes the laptop what it is.

My screen also popped out after the first day of use(the lid was partially closed so it was left hanging out the build!) But I sort of fixed it with super glue, bad idea I know.

I have a power bank for it to make it last 8hrs+ but yea I rarely find myself without a outlet nearby anyway.

I can’t see myself getting a 1080p laptop after getting used to this machine. Even tho I have a ultra wide monitor, I enjoy the 3k screen much more.

Do you guys ever see yourselves getting a laptop with less than 3k after using the thinker?

My is still fine, admittedly with all the other devices I’m reviewing I don’t use it as much as I would like. But when I go back to it the screen it is just wow, the best there is, very nice and you’re right certainly makes the device. Going back to say the 1080p screens on the Apollo Lakes is hard, but then I get used to it after an hour or so.

Since the Cube iWork5X doesn’t charge when using type-c correctly (Only 5W), I decided not to keep it and have it replace my thinker. But I do miss its 360-degree hinge. Well only now and then.

What is the power bank you have working for it? Mine doesn’t charge it.

Ok update on my Thinker. I got it on a Friday and that night & Saturday morning I was dealing with the issue of no battery being present per Windows & Device Manager. After giving it some thought and then writing straight away to Banggood support, I left it there plugged in to the AC charger. Well come Sunday night I figured I’d take another look for whatever reason, and after it boots up (plugged in to AC) the battery is magically there @100% charged. What??? It’s there on the Task bar and in Device mgr, 100% charged & ready to go. Now I don’t know what to make of this or whether I should still seek a return/replacement. The only thing that changed between Fri/Sat and Sunday night was the status LED alongside the DC plug was now glowing green. That made sense since Fri/Sat it was flashing red which I took to mean the battery was charging. But if you booted it up it said there was no battery! I know I left it there plugged in to AC for at least 2 hours after I first unboxed it so when I returned it should at least shown me like 30-40% charged but instead it still said no battery was there. However when I left it plugged in for 24+ hours it now says the battery is there.
