    My tablet has no method for OTAs – the version of Android that I have is a userdebug build with no OTA functionality.  What the heck.

    Right, I can see that my Hi8 has a userdebug build too, but under the applications section in the settings app I can see that there is an app called “Actualización inalámbrica” (spanish for wireless update). This application has 1.92KB of data usage the last 24hours. How can I tell if an android has OTA functionality??

    All these articles claiming that chuwi released a lollipop upgrade seems to be copying the information from the same source. Seems like fake to me.

    At least the tablet has upgraded to Windows 10 (which has a “tablet mode” that works GREAT so far).

    Also if you get deeper into that topic, you will see that AFAIK there is not a single device out there with Intel Graphics (*) running Android 5.X. I have backed a Kickstarter for an Intel focused Android build named ConsoleOS, and that dev reports every now and then how difficult it is to get Lollipop working on those chips. Android 5.0 is being skipped alltogether, making good progress with 5.1, but not quite there. And he is not alone, other devs also working closely with Intel on working drivers, coming to the same ends.

    So if the Chuwi ever gets Lollipop, it will be 5.1, but I doubt Chuwi is putting any effort into this. Seeing that the Kitkat is also not bug free, freezing on Video playback for some due to overheating. I will keep it on my device if I can work around the limited space, but I will mostly use Windows (10).

    (*) There are some devices like Asus Zenfone 2 with Intel Atom 35XX chips, those have PowerVR graphics and might have already been updated to Lollipop, not sure.

    I know of at least one device that has android 5.0 and Intel graphics, and I think I have seen ads for upcoming tablets.  The one I know of for sure is the Nextbook Ares 8 sold at Walmart.  I would hope Chuwi would skip ahead to whatever the latest version of lollipop is, but who knows with android.  Anyway,  I can’t read most of Chuwi’s website because it doesn’t translate well, but my understanding is that Chuwi themselves are the ones who announced the upgrade to lollipop.  Can anyone verify this?  And if so is it going to be something that has to be downloaded from their website?

    Ok guys.  The whole Intel/Lollipop debate is stupid.  Intel IOT has builds for Haswell/BayTrail/IvyBridge on 5.0 and 5.1.  It’s just manufacturer compliance at this point.

    Hell, I have 5.1 currently compiled and running on my HP Stream 7.

    And yes Chris, this tablet was advertised by Chuwi as Lollipop and Windows 10 in the works.

    @Chuman:

    Just wait for the new Version of the Chuwi Hi8 to be released. Its hardware is not very different to the current version und maybe we are lucky and can get Lollipop.
