Has anyone experience the problem of not having direct access to the microSD memory with Android 5.1?

I have a teclast x98 plus dual boot android 5.1. I was hoping that with the x98 plus, I stand to gain the larger screen for media like YouTube or purchased video (example : lectures and seminars) for use while commuting with downloaded clips stored in the (external) sd card instead of the internal storage. But nothing works.

My Samsung galaxy note 3 which has android 5.0 and it works flawlessly with the external SD card, except the screen is just too small.

When I got my x98 plus I was counting on everything should work about the same as the Android 5.0 in my note 3.

I am so very disappointed.  Many apps with the need of lots of storage (e.g. native camera app, TubeMate Youtube downloader, and The Great Courses with off-line media archiving) were rendered useless because the “saving data or files to the SD” function is no longer available.

Does anyone has the same bad experience? With the dual boot and having only about 20GB allocated to the android system (35 or so GB for Windows 10) 18 GB of internal storage for the Android side is just simply not enough to do much without the ability to have direct access to the SD card!!

    Please share your experience, thanks

For whatever its worth, my dual boot is working ok with the exception of the SD direct access issue which I think it’s more of a Google OS system problem.  I am fairly satisfied with the basic function of my tablets.

The most problem I have is, in short of buying another Android 5.1 OS tablet to prove my theory that Google is trying to screw its customer, I am stuck with an android system that is somewhat disable.

A6C7 here. I was using Mirek v3.0 happily with the SD card (windows never managed to access it) and suddenly one day I also lost SD access in Android. Every card was reported as 2GB (tried 1GB, 16GB, 32GB, several brands) and obviously never managed to erase, access or write to them.

I flashed latest Teclast Android firmware and I can access it again. I guess I’ll stick with it for now.
