I have an early-ish Hi8 i.e. uses the 2016-03 files from the Chuwi forums

I recently did a total clean wipe (delete every partition) and installed Android from flash with MFT (used Hi8 Android 201603.rar from http://forum.chuwi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=138 ). That went quite well and the image is nice and clean unlike the delivered image with Chinese applications etc. Everything works quite well that I’ve seen except sound quality is quite average. Sort of sounds like a tinny/bad MP3. It’s not unintelligible but it’s not nice either.

Installing Windows 10 latest build from scratch on the same unit (I have another but it’s Win 10 only) and the sound playing the same file from the same SD card is fine. I don’t know if the factory Android image was OK since I wiped it basically straight away.

Any ideas or anyone noticed this.

Is this from the 3.5mm jack or speakers? If it’s the jack, use a headset that is just two pole, ones that support mics (4 pole) will sound strange when fully plugged in.

No from the speaker only. I haven’t actually tried the head phone jack.
