Anniversary Update broke Search & Cortana

Hi,
As the title says, since I updated the tablet with the anniversary update (through windows, nothing special done) the search bar on the taskbar won’t open (even if I launch the start menu and type), and Cortana seems to be missing from the PC. If I open settings and search for Cortana settings, it gives me an error if I try to launch any of them (it looks on the PC for an app to open ms-cortana… :/ ).

I’ve tried to do the registry tweaks I found online for this problem, the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth thing, the sfc /scannow thing, the reset of the windows store apps via powershell command, changing my language preferences to US (region and all), creating a new user account, and nothing worked.

So… any ideas? Thank you!

Hi Victor,

It looks like you did all that was possible in the circumstances. What prevents you to flash Windows by clean install? You can compile your own install file or use the ready-made.

I guess it’s the only option, yes. But I wanted to give it a try before I lost the programs and everything I installed and start anew.
