Audio\Mic is missing

I got my x98 plus about 2 weeks ago and am more then happy with it. But today, I found out that Windows is not able to access the microphone: The built in speakers and the headphone jack work well, the hole for the mic is also present, but in the device manager there is only 1 device visible: its name is some Chinese characters followed by “(Intel SST Audio Device (WDM))”

When opening the playback menu from the icon in the status bar the before mentioned device shows up in the playback devices tab, but the recording devices tab is fully empty. Also, when using any program that would require a microphone, there is an error message.

Now my Question: Is my tablet the only one with this issue, or does the x98 plus simply not support audio recording? Any Ideas?

I also tried downloading the drivers from here and updating the previous drivers with that, but that did not work. The tablet arrived with the new bios preinstalled.

Have you tried Skype or anything of that sort?

Yes I did – As Windows does not recognize the mic Skype isn’t able to access anything either..

Do you have a microphone available in your volume options?

Hey! I’m having the same problem! Mic doesn’t work on Windows but works well in Android… Did you find anything?

No problems here with the a5c6 windows only version. Microphone works fine.
