Hello Hi8 users,
I’m looking at buying a couple of Hi8 units for some car back seat media players (probably want to run on Windows ruling out Android largely). The idea being that they could hopefully reasonably easily be removed to play/use elsewhere – USB power only hopefully.
If the Hi8 runs the battery down completely or is off, can it be set to wake up and boot when a charger/power is applied to the USB port? i.e. the same as the BIOS setting found in regular PCs giving the option of “Stay off”, “Last setting” or “Always on” or similar. I found a Youtube video very quickly running through the BIOS pages but didn’t see anything that might do it.
Similarly if in standby, can it be woken up by applying power?
If installed I don’t want to have to power them up manually each time if they’ve shutdown.. Ideally they’d hibernate after a set period of time with no power (similar to a normal PC) and then just resume when power was applied again.
Secondly, can a Hi8 run continously from the USB power i.e. can it provide enough power to keep it running without running down the battery (even if charging very slowly)?
Thanks
Christian
