Auto-rotation and on-screen keyboard issue

Hi all,

Even though there is a thread regarding auto rotation and on screen keyboard automatic appearing issue, it didn’t fix the issue for me. Everyone else was able to fix it? I honestly tried everything in the last couple of days what I could google and nothing helped. If I edit registry Enable sensor to 1, after reboot it goes back to 0. Don’t think that editing registry is right to fix the issue when auto rotation is greyed out and keyboard doesn’t appear. These two problems are connected in a way that it seems seems like Windows just think it’s a laptop and not a tablet. Tablet mode changes nothing. Anyone with fresh Windows 10 install without this issue would be willing to share their setup, please? I will attach some screenshots of my setup relevant to this issue below, any feedback would be appreciated. Keep in mind that most obvious things were already tried.

Hi everyone,

Quick update. So after hours upon hours of research I have tried every solution possible to fix this. Was able to find the root cause yesterday and today wrote a script to correct it.

Does anyone else still have this problem? Let me know if I should write a detailed guide to fix this or share the script.

Otherwise, I believe windows update would eventually fix this someday, its a software issue at this point. There seems to be no direct solution anywhere online, just pieces of different things that worked for different people.

i think it’s a windows fault. the only option for me that worked is following.

unplug keyboard
rotate tablet to tent mode
disable auto rotation
connect keyboard

Hi guys, sorry I was unable to respond. Very busy with job and holidays. Merry Christmas everyone!

Yes, in my case the issue was with the sensors and drivers related to the detection of tablet state. Search Convertible Slate State, that should let you google and figure it out. Sadly I cannot find the time to make detailed guide, but you need to change registry values to make it tablet state. My script changes these values but it doesn’t install automatically to run on boot. I wanted to make some money for Christmas with it, but I guess I will just share it with you. I have not found anyone fixing this issue elsewhere.
