Backup software for Chuwi Hi12

I just got my Hi12, and – now it’s upgraded itself to Win10AE – it’s a thing of beauty!

But … I like backups. A lot. Normally I use AOMEI Backupper but it doesn’t support imaging eMMC – does anyone have a good solution that they have successfully done a test restore from?

In the modern world full of ransomware I really like to get this backed up just in case…

I have tried many backup software. The only one working is Macrium. A few month ago only the paid version was working. According to the spec of the new free version it should also work. I will try soon. I have just upgraded to Windows 19 1607. In 1607 as in previous release it is impossible to save a system image with the Microsoft feature.

Thanks for that, I’ll have a look – Did you manage a trial restore, or did you just back up and hope it works if you need it?

Follow up to my previous post.

I have updated my Windows 10 to Creator version 1703 with no problem just using The Microsoft utility Mediacreation tool.exe.

I also have tested the new Macrium Backup free version.

It just work fine and I was able to make  a full image of the drive.

The back up  works fine but the incremental backup is only available in the paid version.

Since I had no need to restore my system I didn’t test it, just keep my fingers crossed

Thanks – but I get nervous with untested backup systems, and I know what a PITA it is to restore Windows 10 onto the Hi12.

I had to do it recently after I selected the wrong drive and deleted the boot partition instead of the SD…my own stupid fault…but a backup would have made life a whole load easier.
