Hi. I’m wondering if anyone else can let me know if they have experienced these problems.
I’m having 2 problems that make this laptop pretty difficult to recommend to any new purchasers..
1 – Lack of touchpad driver (no ability to turn off tap, and no inbuilt palm rejection) – makes it borderline impossible to use if you have to do any typing.. but if you are happy to completely disable the touchpad and use a mouse, it’s quite usuable as a computer.
2 – I’m having a problem with battery calibration. Last night, the laptop was at 64%. I put it to sleep, then woke up this morning, turned it on. The screen flashed on for a second, (battery was 0%), then shutdown. I then had to hard reset (hold power down for approx 15secs).. it then boots up.. now my battery is showing 0%, however I know it still has hours of charge..
Same thing happened yesterday, except @ 24% when I went to bed, woke up, it was 0%, rebooted, then used the laptop for approx 2hours .. so it’s not that a rouge process/driver is eating battery in sleep mode.. but for some reason after a longer period of sleep, when you restard, the battery is 0%, and none of the stats work.
After a full charge, the stats work again (I’ve installed battery bar pro), and it shows correct details…
For some extra context the first thing I did when I received the laptop, was run windows update (which got stuck), so I then downloaded the anniversary update, and ran this manually.
Apart from this touchpad and battery issue, the laptop is actually very nice for the $..
I’m going to try a clean install and see if that makes any difference. Fyi, I’ve had no issues with heat at all (either under the laptop or the webcam), the battery life has been exceptionally good (7-8 hours of typical web/business use)..
If we can somehow get a touchpad driver this would be a gamechanger..!
