For me was exactly the same but after three reboots all is right now. The way I do it last time was: Once the device manager detect an install the update, uncheck automatically reboot, close device manager and reboot manually. …
Thanks for the explanation, worked for me. But nothing were improved … 🙁
May 6, 2016 at 10:38 pm #36310Oh oh – followed the procedure to update bios and everything went ok including showing teclast system firmware 3.01 but when I went to do a restart, went to black screen and now I can no longer boot. No combination of keys (pwr, pwr + vol up, pwr + vol down, pwr + both vol up and down) has any effect. Plug in charger and don’t even get indication that is charging.
What did I do and are there any suggestions?
Thanks
Never mind, did a reset and now works ok

How did you do a reset?
I have an erratic a5c8. Android and Win 10 reseted without reason.
Tried to flash it with the newest bios, and it looked like everybody elses screenshots.
But now its looking hardbricked and none of the buttons are working.

May 11, 2016 at 9:16 pm #36880Thats the mic? http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x98-plus-internals/
There is seemingly no discreet reset button on the A5C8-
Thanks anyway, I will try to put it one day on a charger
and if it still doesn’t work, I will RMA it.May 12, 2016 at 11:27 am #36955Thats the mic? http://techtablets.com/forum/topic/x98-plus-internals/ There is seemingly no discreet reset button on the A5C8- Thanks anyway, I will try to put it one day on a charger and if it still doesn’t work, I will RMA it.
For reset you can press power button and – vol buttons for 10 seconds
May 12, 2016 at 3:18 pm #36991Here you are doing 3.02 update while the one i’m doing to get 3.01 still not doing it for me. Still stuck. I love to be kept update on all devices but this one is tricky.
May 12, 2016 at 5:30 pm #37005Same thing happened here. I have the A5C6, figured I’d check if there was an update using this method. There was and it downloaded, restarted, seems like it was installing fine and now its hard bricked. I had 100% battery before so I’m pretty sure that wasn’t it.
Kinda sucks…I’ve tried holding power button alone, and with volume buttons for extended periods of time, and nothing. Leaving it plugged in now for a few hours, still nothing. Looks like its dead.
May 12, 2016 at 11:08 pm #37056My dealer says he can only RMA it by sending it in, and then he sends it to Teclast in China. Which takes another 2 weeks roundtrip.
I now ordered another tablet from Lenovo from a local dealer, so I have something I can do my work with. What I didn’t try: attaching a keyboard and monitor to the USB/HDMI slot. Some Russian forums claim, that a bios update can wipe
the defaults setting for monitor and partitions. I can see that an attached keyboard lights up on mine when I press power, but I dont have the cabling
to test if there would be something on a monitor. I hear a slight buzz when I press the power on, so its probably not “bricked” in a true sense, just dead configured.I would wish Teclast would add a “press 30seconds all buttons to reset the bios to base” mode to a $200 device.
May 13, 2016 at 1:38 am #37070Why do you still update if you know there is no improvement.
Updating the bios is the only thing that can definitively hard brick your tablet.
Why take the risk if you know that’s for nothing ?
May 13, 2016 at 8:19 am #37114It wasn’t for nothing. I had SD Card Problems (connecting/disconnecting) and it took forever to boot.
Usually this kinds of problems are fixed by updates. What I read on the net, my device was faulty anyway,
since it reseted itself under load and had problems by simply installing apps on the Android side.Patching the system successfully by the preferred, official way, with official bios of the device producer should
never brick the system as long the bios chip isn’t broken. Its just these cheap systems with lots of small changes
(like changing the bios chip type or display type slightly) between two production batches but same DEVICE ID that
seem to soft/hard brick quick and hard.I have routers, switches, servers and other phones and tablets. None of them ever bricked easily (or ever!)
like this Chinese tablets. The other Android Tablet soft bricked when you had the “wrong” combination of WLAN,
flightmode and too low on battery. Look at the other forums. ZTE Phones bricked with the wrong SD Card and
you needed also a bios patch to fix this. I don’t consider this any problem, its the china tech way of life.May 13, 2016 at 2:48 pm #37145Yah its not like I downloaded a bios from some site and installed it. I did it through the device manager, it looked it up from the server and automatically downloaded and installed it. So Teclast put the wrong bios on their server and now anyone with a A5C6 will brick their device if they follow the standard bios update procedures. It’s kinda terrible.
I also can’t contact Teclast or Gearbest (the site I bought it from) because of glitches on their site.

Exactly the same happened to me. A5C6 As well
IF YOU HAVE THE A5C6
DO NOT TRY TO UPDATE “SYSTEM FIRMWARE” DEVICE IN WINDOWS
Windows Update will download a UEFI update (3.04) which is WRONG FOR A5C6
AND WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET.May 17, 2016 at 1:40 am #37617Just recieved a new a5c8. Updated bios to 3.01 using this method. Ran smooth and did manual reboot. A second check for new firmware did not offer 3.02.
May 17, 2016 at 5:05 am #37631<p style=”text-align: left;”>In Windows appears as 3.01, but if you go ibto the BIOS, then you can see it’s 3.02. Don’t ask me why. Everybody are in the same situation…</p>
