Hi Lawrence,
I have Teclast x98 PLUS II and I have the same problems than you. I had many troubles with Windows blue Screens and so on. I thought I was a problem of drivers, but I was wrong. The problem is that the RAM is defective.
Yesterday, I run a meatiest and I got more than 1000 errors! So now the only I could do it is send it back to China to be repaired, but I want to avoid that.
Could you explain me how to configure the BIOS to use only 2 GB of RAM?
Thank you very much!

October 30, 2016 at 5:46 pm #56131Hi Kakkaroto,
as far as I remember it was some chipset setting – NorthBridge. There is some default setting to autodetect the LP DDR3 RAM, I simply changed it to manual setting and told the BIOS to use only “single channel”.
Well, that’s how I remember it without actually going into the BIOS. If you can wait for it, tomorrow I’ll have a USB keyboard at hand and tell you the exact settings I did, but maybe you want to start playing already with the information I gave to you.
If you want to verify that either Android or Windows is detecting only 2GB of RAM then go to Settings-About tablet-Hardware info, or check “System” under windows.
And one more tip: It’s really worth to reinstall some of the apps that are important to you. Since RAM was holding partly garbage while I was installing them, parts of the installed app in the flash memory are now also partly garbage. If you want stability, take the time and reinstall them.

It is how you told me. I just configured single channel and Windows did not claim at start up! Up to now, I was not able even to start Windows because of a loop of blue screens.
I will continue investigating this issue.
Again, thanks a lot
November 3, 2016 at 6:48 pm #56363Hi Kakkaroto,
glad it looks better for you. Just for completeness the BIOS settings I have changed:
Auto Detect LPDDR3 DRAM: Disabled
LPDDR3 Chip Select: 1 Rank
LPDDR3 Device Density: 4GB#
Channel selection: Single

November 4, 2016 at 8:01 am #56397Hi Lawrence,
Up to now I had any problem with the configuration I used (except only blue screen the first day). I have the same as you posted but LPDDR3 Device Density=2GB. I did a memtest I “only” I had 3 error vs more than 1000 I had with the default configuration
So, I assume the problem is the dual channel. This is really bad. Next week I will do some more test to find a better configuration.
Cheers,
kakkaroto
