The same language and a culture originating from a colonization process that goes back more than 500 years. It is possible to find Portuguese traces in various corners of Brazil. The tropical country, despite having gained independence, carries with it a little of the colonizing country.

The document brings important data of the numbers in Portugal after regulating gambling in the country in 2015. This year alone, according to the Gaming Inspection Regulation Service (SRIJ), Portugal recorded a gross revenue of 128.3 million euros generated by online gaming and betting activity in the country, in the first quarter of 2021 alone.

 

Portugal and casino regulation

The Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal (SRIJ) regulates gambling and sports betting in the country. The regulation is recent, dating back to 2015, when the Portuguese activated the market as legislated and regulated. The initiative envisioned the extinction of illegal casino software, creating a safer structure. Since then, the body has issued 710 notifications for closure of activities.

 

The figures obtained by the country, which recorded a gross revenue of 128.3 million euros generated by the online gambling and betting activity, only in the first quarter of this year, have revealed that the regulation was quite positive.

 

The path that Brazil is walking…meets Portugal!?

With the regulation, it is expected the formalization of more than 160 thousand jobs with the activity and the increase of tourists to about 12 million annually. The regulation should also intensify the catalog of online gambling sites and casinos that already operate in Brazil with licenses issued by other countries.

 

The final touch should occur with the emergence of national companies in the area, as is the case in many countries with local operators within Portugal.
