Sorry to hear about the screen trouble, my guess would have been the cables as well but sounds like you already checked that.

Do you have dual or single boot Hi12? Are you sure you flashed correct version of BIOS?

OK, that should be correct. I don’t know why the screen is not working. Hope someone else can help.
July 22, 2016 at 9:55 am #44178Hi,
is it crucial to unsolder the battery from the board or are there any other ways to do so?
I never used a soldering iron on an electric board, so yeah, I dont fell too confident doing this. And I dont have one on hand at the moment…
If I have to do it anyway, well I think I can do it, but are there important things to take care of?
Thanks
Lukas
July 22, 2016 at 11:20 am #44188Hello Lucas,
Yes you must unsold it before doing anything or your BIOS will be totally fried.
Check on youtube how you will do or visit a technical repair person and he could do it.
July 23, 2016 at 2:26 am #44250For the people who got it working, can you add the links to the components you bought? Thanks.

July 24, 2016 at 4:39 pm #44358Hey
Another owner of a bricked Chuwi here… .(
Successfully followed the guide posted about the BIOS update through a cable, programmer reports chip updated and it matches the .bin file, but tablet is still dead.
I got the blinking charging light back running, but not able to boot into anything, tried triple-press power button, external keyboard F7 etc.
Simply no luck…. Would appreciate help….. Anyone got beyond this point?

If the battery voltage got very low it may need a longer charge to bring it to a level that it can boot. If the backlight is on not all the current will got to the battery. Try to hold power for 30 seconds to ensure shut off then connect charger and charge for long period before trying again.
July 27, 2016 at 8:10 pm #44772Hey Bill and all others, and thanks for a fantastic forum and detailed help!
Thanks for the directions on how to revive my Chuwi. Though no luck, its strange…..
Battery voltage is fine, I left the charger in (with the blinking LED charging light turned into firm “fully loaded” ) for more than 24 hours. the LiPo output voltage at mainboard is 4,2 volts. Fully charged in my world…
The BIOS was properly reprogrammed and checked, same content as .bin file, at least before I reconnect everything and try to restart tablet, then bios chip is no longer same as in.bin file ( tried wiping and reprogramming several times…)
Totally unresponsive, well, I stop the blinking LED briefly by pressing the power button for 30 secs, but no screen response, no backlight running, and no HDMI output….
Im leaning towards a broken BIOS chip….???? Just puzzled by that reprogramming and verify goes through…..
Any more ideas?
July 29, 2016 at 9:45 am #44941I’m another from so many bricked Chuwi Hi10 owners (Chuwi Hi10 V300 hardware revision, serial 15xxxxx) who reflashed the BIOS and the tablet is back to Life! ?
Thanks to the detailed manual here written by Bill Christiansen and the detailed videos posted in YouTube by Armookie here and here!!!
I have purchased this hardware: Ch341a Programmer + Clip + 1.8V Adapter + you will need also a USB Extension
I have downloaded the BIOS.bin image from here.
I have followed the instructions in the PDF file and the video mentioned above and have fixed my problem after receiving the hardware needed.
Below I would like to share my experience about a problem which took me some time (2-3 hours) before everything worked OK:
The chip in my Chuwi Hi10 tablet (V300 hardware revision, serial 15xxxxx) is Winbond w25q64fw, the same as in the Hi12.
As you can see on the attached pictures below there is a green dot mark on the corner of the chip. According to the manuals (the pdf and the video) the red cable of the Programmer connector have to be attached there, but in my case it wasn’t right. After some time I found that on the opposite end of the chip there is a little hole (dot) and this is the right side to connect the RED cable of the Clip. The chip is so small and this dot is very hard to be seen … I thought that the green dot mark was the correct one. 🙁
Be careful also with the Clip if it is connected right to the pins of the chip, they are also small and it’s easy to miss some.
If on the bottom right corner of the Programmer software (version 1.29) the status is Connected, then the drivers are installed OK. If then the detect button don’t detect the chip then you have to check this 2 things above.
All this took me some time in many drivers installations / deinstallations, changing the USB extension cable, double checks if the Programmer, the adapter and the clip are connected OK and etc …
P.S. My Chuwi Hi10 hardware doesn’t support Dual boot Bios, despite this I have tested it just to be sure, I flashed my tablet with the newer BIOS but it doesn’t work … 🙂 after the test I had to Erase & Blank the chip again and flash it with the correct one.
P.S.2 I highly recommend the Chuwi Hi10 tread in the 4PDA forum here.
You can read it with Google translate 🙂 It’s a great place with A LOT OF detailed information, resources and HOWTO’s shared by the Russian hackers.
