I had the same “Bug” with the Settings Menu when I disabled the Lockscreen in Android – I could not get back into the Security Menu.

I found this work around to get back into the Security Menu:  Go to Settings – Under “Wireless & Networks” select “More…” – Select VPN. You will then be prompted to set a lock screen Password or PIN – Select OK. Next Choose whatever method you like “Pattern”, “PIN” or “Password” – make sure you remember what security Pattern/PIN or Password you enter . You can then exit the VPN menu and get back into the Security Menu using whatever Pattern/PIN/Password you set up. You can now select a different Security option (such as “Slide”) as long as it is NOT “NONE” otherwise you will have the same trouble getting back into the Security menu.

Regarding the Clock on the Lock screen I don’t see the letters “AB” you are referring to but I have noticed a bug with the way the days of the week are displayed, Example Saturday displays incorrectly as “SPMT” or “SAMT” instead of “SAT”. Only some days of the week are affected eg. Saturday, Monday “8ON”, Wednesday “WE26” and Thursday “T10U” –  the rest are ok. By having a play, I figured out that that the abbreviation for Saturday is being incorrectly modified by “AM” or “PM” depending on the time, Monday is modified by the current Month (i.e. “8” for August),  Wednesday modified by the current day of the month and Thursday is modified by the current hour.

I am not sure if these bugs were there before rooting my Hi8 (I suspect it was) but hopefully someone else with an unrooted Hi8 can confirm.

I ran into the same issue with the Security Menu on my Android, and your workaround worked perfectly—thanks for sharing! While troubleshooting, I also read about securing my connection on public Wi-Fi through VPNReviewCompass, which gave me tips on reliable VPNs to keep my device safe while experimenting with settings and rooting. It’s reassuring to know there are resources that cover both practical fixes and online security, especially when dealing with quirky bugs like these lock screen and day-of-week issues.
