    Howdy,

I purchased this tablet online via http://www.geekvida.es/teclast-x98-air-tablet-pc-3g-arranque-dual-intel-z3736f-quad-core-97-retina-64gb-p101252.html just over a week ago, fully expecting MS W8.1 and  Android 4.? and was pleasantly surprised to receive it with Windows 10 pre-installed, together with Android 5.0.

The general functioning of MS seems smooth and fast and everything now seems to work well. I say “now” because there were initially difficulties getting the SIM card recognised then the 3G up and running. The problem was that every time I typed in the pin-code for the SIM card the “Accept” button became greyed-out. My workaround for this was to boot into Android and disable pin number. Following this in Windows it has been plain sailing. The only holdup seems to be when there was an incorrect shutdown of Android; in these cases Windows on next boot detects errors in SD_Card (external) and takes AGES to “Check and Repair” the SD_Card.

Android is working OK but I miss Titanium Backup and Ease Backup and other similar tools only functional under root, which is where I am currently stuck. I would like to get rid of all of the Chinese “crap” (it’s probably great for them but bothers me no end), so my question is: Can I root this device? If so, once rooted can I selectively eliminate bloatware? If I don’t root can I follow instructions in the excellent tutorial on installing custom Roms via DNX and end up with a rooted system but without touching the existing Windows 10 OS which I am extremely happy with.

Please excuse such a long post 🙂
